Anno 2070

Anno 2070

Glad I gave this another try. The campaign 'tutorial' is TERRIBLE
After trying Anno again for the second time and going to other internet sources to learn some of the basics of this game I was surprised by how good it is. What's with that AWFUL campaign? It teaches you almost nothing about the game at all and actually has the effect of making people stop playing the game. I'm glad I gave it a second try. It's an awesome game once you know how to play.

People learn differently. For some, they will never get it unless if they just jump into the Continuous mode and mess around. That's actually how I learned the game. I didn't play the campaign; I played Continuous mode right away. Though eventually I did do the campaign mode for the Career points.

Then there are those people who will never be able to learn the game on their own. They will need assistance from other people to help them learn. Those types of people usually end up giving up on the game and say that it's "a stupid game".

The Campaign mode actually is already toned down a lot to help people learn the ropes of the game, but there are a couple factors within the game that require your own judgement to make the better choices. Some people won't get that, and unfortunately, the campaign does not cover those other important factors.

Glad to know that you think it's an awesome game [cuz it is! >:P]. It's a very rewarding and satisfying game once you learn how to play it.

I've never gone very far with the campaign, learned by playing continuous games and watching Lets Plays. NanosuitNinja and Leafonthewin both have some really good Lets Plays on YouTube

The reason people give up after playing the tutorial has nothing to do with it being difficult. There's not too much that can't be figured out easily IF you play continuous mode. Most people start with the campaign. It's boring and designed in a way that it focuses on doing quests rather than the empire building which is what makes this game so good.

Still glad I looked up the lets play. I probably never would have found the right click menu without it :P

this is my third anno game so thanks to anno 1404 and the Venice version was able to pick it up easily however at the start kept forgetting about power or the eco effect of buildings

I know exactly what you mean, I started this game in campaign thinking that would be the best way to learn and it was so boring I stopped playing the game for months. I didn't think I would ever play it again. Then with the Simcity failure(thank God I didn't buy that game) I had a craving for playing this type of game again. Gave it a try in continuous play and holycrap I was happy. Last time I remember a game having that bad of a campaign yet having absolutely awesome continuous play was Homeworld 2.

well as a campaign the game is good but as a tutorial its crap with a continuous game u pick up lots of stuff from it and any mods u get of create and put in ur ark are there for all continuous game

Ps had considered the sim city game too but after the review and watching one of the usual game reviews i just left it alone and went back to anno and the other 2 i have too

This game is really good, I still play it a lot. Only I think the AI could be better. It's only to bad ubisoft has allready left this game, .because there will be nothing new for anno 2070. I hope with anno online (i played in the beta) this will not be the end of the great anno franchise, like they did with the settlers at that time. I am know trying out some mods of the game, and i must say that makes the game even more challenge, with new AI , new buildings, bigger maps, and so one. But again a great game to play, I like to play it as a slow pace RTS game. Fot peeps who do not have it yet, there allready steam keys for 24 euro for the anno 2070 complete edition for sale in online shops.

when you say mods do you mean the dlcs or actually mods like used for other games like skyrim
Informer Apr 30, 2013 @ 1:41pm
I mean mods. I now use at this moment m.a.ug mod. It has different ai, and some new buildings, ships, air units, and even land units. Also some new research. Also very nice is that when you have a game you can put in different ai's in the game later on. I use this mod, because i want to have a harder and more difficult game. There is also a other mod called the a.r.r.c mod (also on youtube). It as more challenge into more to build thingsand research. I did not tryed that mod yet.
Most mod's come from german websites, because anno is a germand made game. Some do translate the mod's for the english version of the game. At the moment i use the german version of the m.a.ug mod, because the english version of that mod, is a older version.
Only problem if you use the german mod in a english version of anno at the moment, is that you don't see the the naming of the new things of you can build or research. So you have to find out.
I am still trying out the m.a.ud mod, it has a few bugs but I like it so far, because it brings fun back into the game again, after i did accomplish everything in the original game.
Most mod you can play multiplayer as well.
If someone needs help with it just ask. :)

Funny that Simcity's one success, at least from my point of view, is that it got a few of us to give Anno 2070 a second shot and that in so doing we found a wonderful in death game. I had Simcity for a week or two (fortunately Amazon let me return it) and even without the server issues the game was a huge let down.

you might find that funny about simcity but check back on some on the discussions in regards to anno as when they had a sale on steam for anno there was a massive amount of people havin trouble logging in with steam/uplay and how some didnt even get id numbers to register the game to even get to play

SimCity was actually a disappointment even through the videos themselves (Not including Sips from the Yogscast which has the ability to make any game amazing), and I found you are best playing the Campaign till the 3rd chapter and then turn to continous mode (Which I did when I finished Chapter 1 and couldn't do the first mission of Chapter 2). And YouTube helps alot, I never thought of actually stopping Citizens from upgrading would help massively and changing the Tax amount saved money (Max 1,000 credits income first game I ever did, now around 5,000 - 10,000)

The campaign is basically a tutorial for people who know nothing about the series.

The meat and potatoes of the series has always been SANDBOX/CONTINOUS mode. For some the tutorial ise useful, for others starting a continous mode can teach you the most.

Also good to check the Anno wiki site (has some great tips and charts) and also youtube playing now videos.

And lastly, finding someone who is a vet of the game or series to do a coop continous mode game online with to teach you things helps.
