Anno 1404 is the predecessor of 2070. It plays a bit more like Anno 2070 and you get to play two races at once for the first time. (you can play three races in Anno 2070) It's from 2009.
.
Anno 1701 is a bit older and the first anno with 3D graphics. It plays a bit different than 2070.
It's from 2006.
I don't know how to describe it but in 1701 you build schools, university and stuff to research things while in Anno 1404 you earn sort of points you can spend for that.
Both have a "old times" setting. Just google Anno 1404 or 1701. :)
The older Anno games have an isometric camera view and pixel graphics (but nice, like DiabloII-ish). They were made before 2006. Worth playing for its Charme ^^
Man, all these numbers :p
Only a few dozen in 1404.
I really liked 1701.
Didn't really get into 1404 because i didn't like the time period/mediterranean gameplay.
Still need to get really started in 2070.
Unfortunately 1701/1404 is hard to come by these days.
1602 a close second
I got my copy from there finally, after looking around so much.
It is very very similar to Anno 2070 - same engine, same mechanics by and large. It is less streamlined though, but the timeperiod and the music more than make up for it.
but i bought it retail at release with no uplay.
I DONT PLAY UBISOFT GAMES ANYMORE ASLONG UPLAY IS THERE
