If you have only the base game, just buy the DLC you want through Steam.
The next time you launch the game UPlay will detect you own it and download anything else thats needed.

very cheap at the moment. Thats the complete dlc pack and the Deep Ocean Uplay DLC. I've recently decided to play it again as i've not played it for over a year and I can't come off it, the amount of content seems to have grown since I last played it.
If the game they have is activated on Uplay only - i.e. bought in a shop or an online retailer that isn't steam then the dlc on steam will NOT work. it would only work if its the steam version. Steam won't let you redeem any dlc or even buy it for yourself if you don't have the base game on here.
Judging by the fact they don't have a mouse next to their name, I would assume they don't have the game on Steam
The reasons I wanted to get it on steam include it being cheaper, wanting to give Ubi as little of my money as possible (I'd just read a topic on the confusion on whether the Tages copy-protection was still enforced), and of course I wanted to earn some snow globes ;)
Regarding reason #2, even if Tages is no longer enforced, with its online nature, I'm pretty much renting the game until Ubisoft decide to discontinue the game.
anno 2070 works perfect without being connected to the internet, you just can't access things like the community challenges, but that is obvious as they are the community items. thats like complaining that you can't play dota2 offline when obv its an online game.
plus if you liked the game surely you would want to give it as much mney as you think its worh as it will go towards them deciding to make a sequel.
i just dont get the uplay/ubisoft haters, the uplay system doesn't affect anything and you actually get rewards in any uplay game by gaining points from certain actions. its great, what other system gives you extra levels, weapons, players, modes etc by getting achievements? most other platforms just offer the same via paid dlc.
the only issue i had was re-installing windows and it not remembering my games are installed - simple fix - save the registry for uplay and restore after re-install, games are found and do not require re-installing - simple 10 second fix.
unless your installing on 3 diff pcs a month or dramatically changing your hardware constantly then why would any drm affect you?? anyway, enough rambling, i'm gonna go play it for a bit, wanna see the new challenges :)
I'd love for them to make a sequel, and hopefully, they've been burned enough by the backlash in regards to the Solidshield DRM idiocy, but they can get the same sort of feedback with me choosing to buy this on Steam instead. But we've established that I wouldn't be able to apply the DLC to my Uplay account anyway.
I do agree with your implication that adding another layer of DRM (steam) on top of an already creamy cake (the cake is the game, and the cream is the DRM ;) ) is probably unwise.
I have Anno only for Uplay, however, have got as a gift the DLC on Steam. How can I redeem the DLC if I do not have Anno for Steam ?
Incompatible I'm afraid.
