NPCs cheat
This is something that really annoys me. They have infinite resources, just building away thousands of production buildings, like coal drills and nuclear power plants and tons of mines, missile silos and other expensive structures that have high maintenance costs, and they have like 15 houses in total. Then they can even afford to buy my 60k shares on a pretty regular basis.
Second: They don't need to feed their population. Not at all, they have 0 production for anything other than oil and coal, no food, no drinks, no lifestyle products or anything that's needed to sustain a high class residence building. And that's not the only thing I have noticed, I killed their ships, intercepted them miles before an island that I finally managed to destroy. And just before it sunk about halfway there (way out in the ocean) they founded a new city, out of the blue with no ship about at all. (It was very definitely out of range) And then they build ships like there is no tomorrow. Your number of ships is limited by your population, and even having 15 executives doesn't support 5 colossus, 4 deep sea hunters, 3 bombers, 6 choppers and several trade ships, vipers and command ships. And then when I keep down his shipyards, he STILL builds new ships, out of the blue. One appeared just before his warehouse with only a submarine base nearby.
I mean what's the point of killing goods transports to slowly kill their income because their population is unhappy when they just don't need that at all? What's the point of destroying resource production (they don't have any to begin with, btw...) and transports so they can no longer build any new stuff so you can destroy and take over an island when they just don't need resources or money to build it?
In the old anno games the computer did only cheat minimally and you could actually disrupt them by not letting anyone near their ports, slowly having them run out of resources to support their repairs or population class by keeping their production and/or their trading routes down.

In short: I'm really disappointed by the step back from the fair games that we had before. At least when I remember 1602 (Didn't really play any others, only 1503 shortly, but that, too was feeling fair)

It looks like developers just couldnt be bothered to develop AI, I dont blame them I know how hard it is to make a decent AI so they just made a scripted AI that basiacly acts very similiar in all games. They probably run out of time for game development.

i don't mind them builing from blueprints or whatever, but they should only be allowed to build when they actually have the stuff for it. and then either trade (with someone who doesn't have infinite resources) or build it themselves. actually when you cheated in 1602 and gave them a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of for example stone, they noticed that and build walls and strone roads and stuff like that, as when they didn't have it, they just couldn't build and ordered it for import. they did produce the stuff they needed themselves, adjusted in and export based on their warehouse. it's still cheating because they can do all the stuff at the same time but at least they didn't create stuff out of nowhere, have 2 residence buildings support about 200 coal drills and 50 power plants, 20 nuke silos and a huge fleet
