No Oil found?
Currently running a game where I have to secure 100k worth of trade with some very small islands. I have expanded to most of the islands in the area which are useful to have for future mining and expanded to techs (Working with Eco).

So I expanded to undersea areas to exapnd my tech stuff and hit a problem, every undersea plateau has a placeholder for an oil rig, yet I cannot mine Oil.

The Ecos do not have Oil Mining like the Tycoons.

I have managed to get an Oil tapping tech but it does not work, further more there is no space to 'expand' the resources on these undersea plateau (like with seeds on the islands).

Any help or advice?

Oil rigs are a TECH building - You need to settle a TECH settlement, see to their needs and unlock it (I honestly don't remember it it starts unlocked or not)

At any rate - The Oil Rig is in the Tech building tab, not Eco/Tycoon.

Yes I know this and have a tech settlement (wouldn't be able to build an oil rig otherwise)

I have functional food plants up and running but still needs oil for the oil rig to progress

huh just went in now and it works, very strange, it just read that oil field had 0 oil available despite being able to put a rig there. Now it has no value just the omega sign for infinite.
