AutoPatcher Need Help

So i bought the game of off ebay and i downloaded it and it came up with the autopatcher. When it asked about the proxy server I had no idea what it was asking for so i left th spaces in the to fields blank and ticked the box. Now the autopatcher woent even start to download it just come up and does nothing. My Computer is windows 7 and im not a tech a genius so i have no clue what to do ive tried einstalling, rebooting and asking Uplay support but i havnt heard anything back from them. Does anyone know how i can fix this problem, and if so could you dumb down the asnwer to make it easy to understand.

A proxy is a server that forwards all your internet traffic. This is typically used in the work place or if you're trying to hide your IP.

Since you checked the box, you're basically telling it to forward it's request to nowhere. That is why the autopatcher not connecting to the internet.

READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.
I found something online that may help What you need to do is Go to start and in the "search programs and files" line type in "regedit" and then click on Regedit or (registry editor) if there are a lot of folders open minimize all of them by clicking the arrow until all you see is computer.

Then once you do that click on the computer arrow then the HKEY_USERS arrow this will show you several folders like DEFAULT and the S-1-5-18,19,20 and so on several with many numbers. What you need to do now is start from the bottom and open each folder individually by double clicking them then in those drop down menus you need to double click a folder that says software and look for a folder that says "related designs"

Do this one folder at a time (I hope you know how folders paths in windows work) Meaning you double click S-1-5-18 then under that slightly to the bottom and the right will be many other folders. These folders are inside the first folder you clicked on.

In the software folders there will be other folders such as "windows" and "uplay" folders. What you are looking for is a folder named "Related Designs" Double click on that folder then double click on "AutoPatcher" then double click on "ProxyConfig".

Once you double click "ProxyConfig" you should see on the right side several values that may or may not look like this.

(Default) REG_SZ (value not set) <-- you should have at least that.
ProxyPort REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (1)
ProxyServer REG_SZ
UseProxy REG_DWORD 0x0000000 (1)

If you are feeling confident then double click the UseProxy value and change the 1 to a 0 (zero) then try the autopatcher again. If you are having trouble finding this folder than just message me on steam. I will try and help all I can.

It should be noted that editing your registry can be risky but as long as you dont go changing values like crazy you should be ok. So this is an at your own risk scenario.
