I used to play Anno 2070 for years on Uplay, unlocked all career levels and bought the Deep Ocean addition too. During the latest sale here on Steam I got really nostalgic about the countless hours I spent on this game, all the beautiful cities I've build. I thought about buying the complete edition for 7.49€, to extend my collection and finally get access to all DLCs too. However, the reviews say that online mode isn't available anymore, which means I can't use all the fantastic ark upgrades (e.g. I loved the item that makes your residents immune to crime). And so I skipped purchasing the game - for now.
My question is: does this game still feature an online mode function? If not, is there a way to re-enable online mode to get access to the ark features? I heard about something called "Anno cookie" but don't know if it's still working. Or did Ubisoft shut down the servers, meaning online mode in Anno 2070 is completely gone?
Thanks for any help!
I hope, I'll be able to expierence the beauty of Anno 2070 again soon.
Thank you!
I haven't played since the update (and I've never touched the multiplayer), so I can't speak from personal experience, but as nice as it is that they tried to "fix" things so that the game wouldn't be killed by Ubi shutting down a bunch of servers last year, there's been a -lot- of issues since.
Again, your mileage may vary, and I don't know how prevalent issues are, but I've been keeping an eye on the forum since the update since I was curious how things would go, and feedback hasn't been good.
My suggestion would be to not buy it until you know you can test things out for yourself within the refund window. Like, don't just buy it, expecting everything to work, and come back to it months later.
When/if you buy it, make sure to test it within 2 weeks, and don't play more than 2 hours.
Waiting for a big sale is also recommended, because they really don't deserve anybody's money, at this point.
I believe it's a connectivity problem between Steam and Ubisoft. Starting the game on Ubisoft Connect instead of Steam might be a solution. I hope it's possible to access my old account when purchasing the game here on Steam. I don't care much about spending 7.49€ during a sale, but I absolutely won't buy it for the full price of 30€.
As long as you still have/remember your account information, there should technically be no problem.
I've been lucky and never had any issues with uPlay/Ubisoft Connect, but I know they're quite common.
It might help if you just log in to your Ubi account through your browser and make sure your Steam account is linked first? I don't know. That might cut down on potential issues.
Good luck.
I will post the results and my experiences then. Stay tuned! 😄
I was advised in one conversation to unlink my account from Steam and then relink it to Uplay. It helped me, now online earned.
Two weeks ago I played the game, but know every time I start it it always says that it cant connect to the server (it is interesting because Ubisoft connect is online). I tried Anno 1800, there the servers are running.
Its really frustrating because almost all my saves are also not available.
Please, anyone could give me an information what is going on? As I know they want to shut down the server, but last time as I read this shouldn't happen so what can be then? Maintenance?
I appreciate all the information.
