Anno 2070 vs Anno 2205
I have Anno 1404 and I like playing it.
Now, since Anno 2070 and Anno 2205 Are both on sale, I wonder wich one I should buy.
I looked Youtube Videos of both but I still can't decide.
I would like to have your opinions on both if you have played them, It would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance ;)

Because you haven't given any specific context besides you liking Anno 1404 and not being able to decide between 2070 and 2205 after seeing videos of them, I am going to have to conclude that you are not the type to hate Anno 2205 for not feeling like a classical Anno game.

Therefore:
    Anno 2205
  • Has more quality of life gameplay functions than Anno 2070 like being able to move buildings into better placement without having to destroy and rebuild them, Supply and demand are calculated into a clear number you can follow across entire islands, trading is only manually managed by you between sectors/maps instead of the individual islands.

  • combat is completely seperate from the main gameplay.

  • You are the only player/faction in all of the maps you play in, meaning the only enemies that you need to deal with are only available in raiding parties or in the mission section.

Anno 2070 has, arguable, more meaningful Ornaments for you to place down and beautify your city. Along with a trade economy supply mechanic that's more in line with Anno 1404. However: Anno 2070 has been having many users report problems with logging into the servers in order to be able to play the game, so you're taking a chance on whether or not you will be able to play Anno 2070 in the first place.

So: shrug.

Thanks Utilityguy, As much my question lacked in informations about my tastes, as much your response is informative and help me in my choice.
I have read the discussions on both games and, like you said, logging hith Uplay semms to be a problem in Anno 1404, so I will not take the gess I think.
Thank you, really helpfull ;)

You made your move already and in getting both on a sale, you're bound to enjoy at least one of them, if not both. Usualy coming around in 50+ playhours, maybe even in the hundreds.

In Anno 2070 i like the gameplay mechanic of power and eco balance. It keeps you on your toes and there is alot of improvements while progressing a play"through".

You should check out the mod "Anno 2170 A.R.R.C." It is a major overhaul, with new produciton chains, massive expanded labratory and acadamie projects and more.

It can easy be de-installed if not to your liking.

Well, to me, Anno 2205 looked less "not classic Anno gameplay" and more "mobile gameplay that screams pay2win despite lacking microtransactions".

So I'd recommend Anno 2070 (and later, if you wish, Anno 1800 for a new pinnacle in th series).

As for difficulties with logging in: These are easily resolved if you simply install uPlay Connect launcher from ubi.com. This problem is just that their old launcher included within the game files on Steam doesn't work anymore but will easily hook into the new launcher that provides the hooks needed for compatibility.
An extra step, yes, but it's worth it in my opinion.
anno 2205 is not like the previous annos, it plays pretty differently.

Not to mention the moon, that will depend on earth economy entirely. The main reason I stopped playing 2205. The frackin moon.

Both are great but personally i've found 2070 more enjoyable. I've only played 2070 and 2205 for context.

I liked 2205 but having to balance everything between several regions got a bit too much... and moon as much as I liked it, was annoying af.

1800 is a beautiful game though, I love it.

I would recommend if you liked 1404 ,get anno 2070 , the last good anno game, however if you like something different get 2205 too, but play it after 2070 .

Anno 2070 has multiplayer: coop and versus. That´s what i only play the Annogames for. So i buyed Anno 2070 with the Addon. It´s o much fun to play together with some friends. We are acutally playing the versus-mode but mainly settling peaceful next to each other.

Does it add a new campaign? or something like that?

It rebalances quite a lot, introduces some new production lines, a ton of new research, projects and items for the tech laboratories. Many new ornamental buildings as well.
Check http://www.anno2170-arrc.de/?language=en for a detailed description.
No new campaign though. The focus of the game always was the free longplay.

Does it fare well in the original campaign?
