Anno 2070

Is it really unplayble as review say?
Saw it is 75% off, but lots of negative reviews come from uplay/login

Is it a 1 shot tedious thing to do or does it have constatly login/crashes/always on DMR that ruin the game?

I do not own this game, and came for much the same reason.

What I saw in the reviews is that the servers no longer work, and the game features always-online DRM. Whether this is true or not, I'm not sure.

some have problems with uplay, I don't.
Always online DRM, for what, who doesn't have a internet flatrate in this times?
Its an old game MP is almost empy. (i play only SP)
Crashes no, only the install your have to manuel download something to work.
the game itself, the same as all Annos

1) Someone with Comcast might or might not have internet
2) People with Dish internet (the poor souls) might have so many dropped packages that servers simply drop them.
3) Any DRM is going to give people trying to play the game with Wine/CrossOver/Proton problems.
4) Its annoying.
5) Pirates are just going to strip the DRM anyway.
6) ...you get the point.

Anyway, this is coming off my wish list.

Just download Uplay, get the CD Key from steam, enter it in UPlay - and launch in Uplay. Zero problems

Nope. The reviews are from idiots, don't trust them. The game is 100% playable and is an amazing game and I would highly recommend it

The game works, but the registering process is very cumbersome and not intuitive if you start it from Steam. I know of no other game where you have to jump through so many hoops to start a game for the first time.

The alternative is use your CD key outside of Steam in Ubisoft launcher. Which is easier to register, but many will not want that if they have the rest of their games in Steam. For most ppl it is also something they read after becoming frustrated :p

EDIT: As for always online DRM for singleplayer. It is simple. There is no benefit here at all for the player, only for the company. If the company's servers are down, you can't play your singleplayer game. So its plain customer unfriendly.

All works fine, just got game today with the discount and I am happy with it.

I might see how it online req would be bad if you have horrible connection.. but honestly which game does not use some sort of online requirement these days. Not saying it's a good thing especially for single player games but nothing weird about it to give negative reviews. It patched out perfectly, detected DLC from the complete edition normally. No problems at all.

I had uplay account anyway.. so don't see a problem with that either. Limiting yourself only to Steam or any single market is bad call imho.

TLDR - All works :steamhappy: , go for it.

Literally downloaded it again today to make a point to some whiny guy who claimed the game was broken and you should never buy a ubisoft game (aka Anno 1800) because ubisoft is trash and offers no support. Took me ten minutes to prove him wrong. 9m30 to download it, 30 seconds to fire it up and make a screenshot from today.

Go for it dude, the game is really good, and the underwater stuff looks gorgeous as well. The only thing the reviews show, is that too many dumb people have access to keyboards and internet

All the people that have problem with Uplay have in one way or another tampered with games or the account.

There is absolute no problem with Ubisoft or Uplay and this game Anno 2070 is no problem at all.

I can play it with no issues

I decided to give it a shot after reading all of your comments, thank for the help.

It asks you 3 times the cd key, but "copy to clipboard" option is a time saver, plus already having a uplay account for 1404: Venice, was not a big deal logging on. Installed without issues.

As we said.

anno 1404 is called dawn of discovery on steam and is steam servers only so it plays much better than the uplay version

Was really worried after reading the negative reviews but the game seems to start fine?

Bought the game recently (complete edition), had to use the CD key 2 or 3 times. No error, it worked flawlessly.
