Anno 2070 is an awesome game, but as you are experiencing, it does have a very steep learning curve. I highly recommend watching the YouTube videos of this guy called NSN. He is hilarious, very good at the game and teaches you how to play the game well.
I was pretty bad at the game until I watched his videos

This game can be so messed up it's kind of like "do this" and then i'm left wondering what the hell I do, the controls are kinda messed up and i don't really know what things do, it explans NOTHING! I find my self getting stuck on the simplest of quests; I love city building games but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ man this is hard, also thank you fluffy ill check them out when im done pulling my hair out. I don't wanna just leave the game but at what point do i stop killing myself over a mission that takes me 15 mins for just a simply thing?!

Play the campaign about the computer virus. It serves as a nice tutorial. That said, there are certain basic mechanics like upgrading housing which aren't really explained unless you've played earlier Anno titles. To upgrade houses to the next level, click on the top right house icon in the bottom right box when you select the house you want to upgrade. Higher level housing would unlock more buildings and allow you to fulfill certain quests. And upgrading housing is only possible if you have met all the needs of the previous population level and have enough of the right resources to do so. Do note that houses are set to auto upgrade by default but that may drain more resources than you want. To set them to manual upgrading as described earlier, you need to deny ascension rights through the city center.

Hint: Higher level population types only live in higher level housing that fits them. This is important info if you need to meet certain quest conditions. Certain buildings also unlock only when you reach certain population milestones.

now i'm stuck again trying to build a dumb house; I don't know how to riase their lvl since the sea is black and now no fish are coming in! and oh my god thank you idihx, amazing! So I clicked on the house and now i am sending all my points into that home even though they are not happy so hopfuly this works....cause im stuck.

Another question I have is; can I just play the game and build stuff? i am big into city building games but this one is just so hard to grasp for some reason- they made it needlessly hard and no this is my first game ive played and honestly theres a reason I deleted it, im used to tyocon, simcity, skylines and banished this game just seems to be to much but i love the way it looks damn it

Glad to help. When you click on each house, you'll see various bars for things like food, drink and entertainment. All of these bars need to be full (needs fully met) before you can upgrade the house. However, you also need to set taxes to the lowest level (top right box) so that they are "euphoric" before houses can be upgraded.

There's a sandbox mode but it's best you play the campaign first to get a feel of the basic mechanics.

Yes, the campaign will ease you into the game gradually.

Also, read the manual! ;)

Here's the specific link on Youtube for NsN that FluffyNo3 mentioned above:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYFLhADYd3k&list=PL53A7E0841E162B15&index=5

It does have a lot of 'spoilers' though, which you might regret finding out there, rather than by yourself.

Anyway, there ain't any rush with this game. Take your time and chill with it. It's great. :)

As Idlihx10 already said: Click on the town centre and turn off 'ascension rights', so that the population doesn't try to evolve automatically! When you're starting, you don't have too many resources, and they will go through tools and buiding blocks like crazy otherwise, when you just slap down houses everywhere.

Your first priority is always building blocks. If you need more tools, buy them from the NPCs with your ship given to you at the start of the game (a LOT cheaper than buying from your ARK).

OMFG this guy making the video is the tits! So funny and i'm learning so much already but its not really helping me with the "start of the game" but that's okay i'm learning how it works thanks alot! Oh and what I did was just made a butch of fish ships and lowered their taxes for a little while and they were good to go...gonna watch this video a little more and try the next part of this game... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥'s hard but i simply can't pull away. When i was a KID I was playing Simcity and could not get enough I even played it on NES and failed every time but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, did I ever have a good time staying up until 5 in the morning manging my bank--- that always screwed me.

I love city building games but this feels diffrent somehow.. like is it.... but not? it's not the normal tropaco game but it's alot of fun i just get mad because it does not explan anything to you it's like "here's the game...do it"

It sounds like you might wana check out Anno 2205. Its a dumbed down version of anno games that is more inline with other city building games but still has a few of the core anno components like production chains, upgradeing and the like.

Maybe this is an odd question but what IS anno? I thought it was a city building game but it seems like so much more

lol yah well the 2205 folowing isnt as big as 2070 alot of people got buthurt with that game because it wasnt a clone of 2070 or 1404. That and the whole season pass feasko, but they fixed that. I enjoy that game its def unique. u have to suport and maintain multiple citys to get to the moon though. i highly enjoy it.

Meh. you can please everybody jah know? but going to the moon sounds fun all i know is this underwater stuff and it;s giving me a headache. Iam guessing this is sorta puzle/city builder type game? cause my brain is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ trying to find out what to do with EVERY single mission- I really have to think about what the hell to do unless i'm just a noob and i am that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clueless lol its fun but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥'s not what I thought it would be. I dunno if i'll try the others ill see how this one works out cause i'm on mission four the understand part and i'm about to pull my hair out

idk if this is still updated but this helped me ALOT when i was just starting out. http://anno2070.wikia.com/wiki/Production_Chains when it says stuff like 2@100% it means thats howmany buildings it can run in that paticular chain. EG 2 Iron mines + 1 coal mine can run 2 Smelters witch can then run 4 Tool shops

It's not that complex actually. To describe it in a sentence, Anno is a much more resource focused game than other city builders. Everything, even the most basic housing, costs resources and/or money. As long as you focus on ensuring a regular and adequate resource supply to meet your population's needs, a sound resource delivery system and healthy trade, you should do fine. Dealing with different AI opponents competing with you for land/resources on the same map is a different matter. But this also shouldn't be too hard for you as you gain more experience and better understand the mechanics. Not sure and haven't looked at it yet but I think sandbox mode should allow you to disable AI opponents if you want to play a more relaxed game until you gain more experience.

And don't confuse single missions with the campaign. The tutorial refers to the latter.
Alice Nov 28, 2016 @ 2:01am
1.complete the tutorial missions
2.find out the supply/food chains
3.tighten your time to achieve things like avoiding credit shortage after upgrade to a new tier.
4.dont build a overcrowded metropolis
5.perfect your trade route and chose the shortest route
6.ensure your people are well satisfy with every needs
end of the game
this game requires patience and thinking.
