Dark screen in Shades of Darkness campaign
Game works fine, but in the first mission of the elves campaign when i go upstairs screen goes dark(like it's dark fillter applied to me screen). This happened to me in main campaign few times, but reloading the game fixed the issue. But in dlc campaign it doesn't. Tried EVERYTHING. Can't find a solution. Seems like it's common for my graphics card (AMD Radeon 5700xt). Is there any fix or just refund?

UbiSoft would do well to support HOMMVI and fix the video display issue that everyone with a reasonably modern graphics card is experiencing! None of the expansion scenarios are playable due to an impossibly dark screen which only shows bright reds and whites (everything else being black). I have an AMD RX 6700 XT video card and no other GPU in my system. I have tried the previously recommended VSync fix and also tried different settings for my graphics card, but nothing will brighten up the dark screen when I try to play an expansion scenario. I ran a DXDiag which showed no problems. How do we request a refund for the "expansion" portion of our Might & Magic VI purchase?

1) Open ProfileData in folder \Users\Username\My documents\Might & Magic Heroes VI\User.

2) locate the setting gfx_InvalidateShaderCache
and change the value from true to false

It helped me instead all thise steps with compability etc

Thanks for the reply, but I believe that is for black screen when opening the game. This problem is for Dark Screen when trying to play the expansion campaigns. Also, I checked that setting and it was already set to "false". I have had a ticket open with UbiSoft for over a week now trying to get this resolved.

it was already on false for me, also didnt fix the problem

I have the fix but it's kind of complicated and it literaly changes the code of AMD driver (not permanently, only copy in RAM). I am not sure it will work for your graphics card/driver. Do it at your own risk. I did elves campaign and it was working well. All the explaination of the fix is in the video decription. Found it myself, so you can ask any questions.

Thanks much for the information LuNaTiK. I had given up after 3 months and lousy assistance from UbiSoft. I just found your reply today. It definitely looks like it will correct the issue. Now I only have to convince myself that I can trust the "CheatEngne74.exe" application. I will be looking into this in more detail soon. Thanks again.

Unfortunately we found out that this fix basically only works for my Graphics Card/Driver Version. Address (amdxn32.dll+63436) is hardware dependent and it's hard to find without any knowledge of cheat engine. So there is no easy fix to this sadly.

I am sorry to hear our support team was unable to help you with this issue after escalating your case to our tech team.

I looked into your case and found that this was forwarded for investigation with no ETA of when this could or would be fixed, due to our M&M devs no longer being available,

We found some of the older supporting software usually found in the games installation or 'support' folder was missing, such as Sonic CinePlayer which could have been a possible cause of this issue.

so this is the more elusive problem I've also had with the game. I've found maybe 1 or 2 custom game maps that this seems not to happen at all. Is there any ubisoft support that found a solution for this specific problem on any cpu? I have windows 10 and an integrated video card, and it seems it run well specification wise. But under certain conditions of the game it throws a really dark layer of black, with only certain bright greens or blues barely shining through. If i return to main menu the discolouration continues from the in-game glitch. I have to close game and restart and it goes back to normal.

i run tribes of the east with 0 issues, and no compatability or special options changed, yet this game and that black screen seem impossible to fix. I tried admin rights, trying different variations under the .exe file, and compability on several different older windows systems.

I'm fairly certain this just happens even with the base game as it was an issue from the start. After the expansions were installed it may have black shaded ingame more often.

It happens as soon as I start any campaign in the expansion and will not go away. Ubisoft has been of absolutely no help. They have stated to me that they are not supporting this game in any manner of software modification. I wasted over 3 months conversing with various tech support people making ridiculous and repetitive recommendations to me. If this problem happens when opening an expansion campaign, it is literally "game over".
