Major bugs you need to be aware of

So, on the first day it was 22, the second, 16, the third 12, 4th 9, 5th 6! Restarting the mission without using Batu's Totem does not result in the strange gradual reduction of earth skills. Conclusion: BATU'S TOTEM IS BUGGED

- occasional bug: if you unequip and re-equip a set-artifact then the set-bonus stacks up

- In the barbarian campain on map 2 it gets to month two and mid week the game crashes (solution: finish map quickly!)

- It looks as though luck with Infernal is really bugged; almost like they take on the reverse of whatever luck they should have.
When I am not playing Inferno, and I have a combat against inferno neutrals, they act with the value of luck MY troops have, not based on the luck value in their descriptions. When I play WITH inferno against other neutrals, my Inferno troops take on the luck value of the NEUTRALS, and are not anywhere close to the luck value stated in their description. When playing inferno, the description often shows me values of luck over 60% for my troops, yet if I am facing a group of neutrals with luck values of say, 7%, then that is what my troops will act with - I have measured this over 100 combats now. Interestingly, this does NOT apply when I am facing off against an enemy hero, in those battles, regardless of faction, luck values work normally.

-Pathfinding skill is still broken (actually adds movement PENALTY, instead of bonus on hard terrain!). I assume it was fixed for the normal campaigns, but not the expansions?

--improving scouting levels does not improve scouting range to any apparent extent.

- Souldrinker's Lifeforce (or whatever it's called, gives +3% to health) works for both sides (not only for weapon holder, but also for his opponents).

- "Anathema" (blood skill -haven might) instead of LOWERING enemy damage, actually RAISES it.

- Set a game with "Aggressive AI", for example. Save the game and when you load it again, the difficulty is "normal" instead of "custom".

- Sometimes, for no apparent reason, heroes simply stop earning reputation points.

- bonuses from visiting weekly shrines are often lost on reloading a saved game

- Buffs after wait command: general weird behavior - buffs expire differently in some cases, like buff->action won't have the same result as wait->buff->action. Especially annoying with guardian angel

- Hourglass of Asha (special of Nec town) gave a -15 ini penalty to both teams, in field battle in AoC. Should be: neither. only in siege defense should it work!

- On map wasting grounds decreases health and damage not for all enemy creatures, but also for yours too, if they're not undead. Do not know about city version - need to check it.

- Inferno campaign, map 2: Increasing magic power levels does not increase damage for magic-damage based troops, nor does it increase damage for spells (possible solution: it seems unlikely, but this is also the only campaign I chose to start with the dynasty trait "fanatic")

- - Cleave+morale+wait: if stack gets morale bonus, and with the second action gets a kill that activates cleave, then issuing the wait command will give the stack 2 more actions afterwards (total 4 actions in 1 turn: regular->half power->regular->regular. Not sure about if last one being regular, only happened few times. Maybe it's half power too). So in this case wait gives one extra move.

- The Azkaal Inferno fight became impossible thanks to what I assume are bugs. First, Mark of Consumption doesn't actually increase ensuing fire damage. Second, the Ill Blood (frenzy) move doesn't work on enemies that are not adjacent to anyone (in the past, this would keep the enemy from moving for 2 turns). As a result, the fight went from insanely difficult to literally impossible.

- Necromancy II does not work in Necro Campaign. This bug appears after every battle in the arena (for example, near the 2nd city on the 1st campaign map) by default necro hero (Anastasia).

- To use the faction trait in a campaign, you have to have it selected from the start of the campaign. it doesn't work to add it after you have completed the first map of a campaign.

- there appears to be a bug with the "merchant" dynasty skill where sometimes after a month or so, it will start reversing its effect, and make it like there are two LESS marketplaces you own instead of two more. if I quit the game (to the desktop) without saving, and then restart and reload my last save, the problem disappears.

- Siege Master 2 does not work in the Necro campaign. When facing living enemies behind walls that I am besieging they are not poisoned. Apparently works in custom game when playing haven.

- Gauntlets of Khan and Emerald Yumi bow (maybe all such), don't seem to give their +x to might damage really. Yumi bow does show but doesn't do. Khan doesn't even show.

- dynasty weapons do not level up on non official maps

- The building that is supposed to boost rage to level 1 in town and over the town's influence range does not work at all. anywhere.

- The weekly effect that decreases the cost of mana for spells by 25%, ALSO decreases the spells effectiveness by the same amount!

- when you upgrade Seraphs/Celestials, the sword of Mercy/Epiphany is on the wrong version of the unit.

- a bug with Guardian Angel ability where instead of making you invincible for one turn it actually makes you invivncible until your stack attacks another stack. Afterwards this stack can be targetted casually.

- I found at last free time to play 50SoP campaigns and Necropolis one is bugged under version 2.1.1 - quest progress scripts (from mission 2 and 3) often don't work and even loading game not always help.
Usually when I done quest objectives, game acknowledge it not right away but in enemy turn, and if some unit/hero need to move to my hero, he doesn't and game freeze. Not to mention that sometimes even this not work and even if quest is completed, it still marked as grey (not green) in quest book.
For example - in second Necro map, at the end you need to defeat two dungeon Library Guard factions to open gate. I have done that, but even when game has "2/2 defeated" in log, quest still wasn't complete and gate was closed. After few loads it worked eventually.
Same problem with mission 3 and those gates. Mission 1 and Dungeon campaign seem to be fine.
Also in Dungeon mission 4 I choose Blood path for Raelag but I get secondary quest for Tears hero - rebuild Trening Centre (+100 Tears points). I can't complete it and I didn't see any +100 Blood points quest there.

- When Crag Hack finds the captains hat in his campaign, finishing that quest is supposed to give him +5 leadership, but it does not.

- The Sigil of Arkath in the 1st underground area near the entrance cannot be accessed. some sort of clipping glitch it looks like.

- pressed attack is cancelled if cast on a centaur, because the move action counts as an action towards pressed attack. so you only get one.

- when a stack in their bonus "morale" turn dies before their second action (from Agony for example), the next stack (usually, my[​IMG]) gains that turn (means - 50% of full turn damage, speed) instead of normal. Pretty sucks, especially if you're playing ranged build.

- Staff of Crystal Roses does not provide creatures with the +5 Initiative bonus

- In the custom map "rise to power" all EXTERNAL DWELLINGS for PLAYER 1 are locked to Dungeon

- multiple bugs in Skype intergration

- The "Eightfold Lotus" special ability that is supposed to allow retaliation, "no matter what", does not enable retaliation if the unit is under siren song.

- time stasis does not prevent pretorian shield bash from working.

- dark embrace buff for liches does not work

- Dreamwalkers Sky and Earth and Sky and Earth, Mass are dealing damage to flying creatures, despite the spells description saying only non flying creatures

- Jaguar Warriors War Fury should only make the creature immune to harmful mond influence, but makes the creature immune to all kind of spells (Heroism, Heroic charge, Pressed Attack,...)

- Jaguar Warriors Feral Charge and All-around Slash are not benefiting from Heroic Charge

- Cleave: does not work when the first enemy creature stack is killed in retaliation or if the second attack granted by Malathua’s Cleavers Wrath of the Orcs kills an enemy stack.

- Belketh's morale can increase during leveling up (unlike normal Necro heroes).

- When Kirin moves during combat, just when it comes to receive a ranged attack, the game freezes. v2.1.1, the problem still occurs.

- The nemesis sword dosen't stick in the 2nd necroplis campagin. it dosen't even show in the inventory"

No, I disagree and from the whole community. I play all Heroes and they have a community patch. Repairs and similar things. They even did an HD remake of the threes HIII.

We must not give up.

Problem is your not spamming them you're just spamming all of us lol, the people who've posted in this thread before. I'd be surprised if any staff are watching this place and if they are then it would just be a social media forum staff member (eg ubimoshi or whatever his name is) who's not a dev and has nothing to do with the development of the 100s of different games ubisoft churn out. Years ago when I posted in the HoMM7 beta counsel dev website thingo that they should finish fixing HoMM6 first the admin deleted my post and deleted a lot of other peoples posts complaining about HoMM6 being unfinished. Then we got an unfinished HoMM7 to go with our unfinished HoMM6 lol. You need to learn like I did back then that THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN and if you pester them too much they'll just delete your post for fun.

So in regards to an official patch there's just no way.. they'll never fix it. This game and Ubisoft bankrupted Black Hole Entertainment so they are no more, the people who made this game lost their jobs and couldn't legally touch it's code again even if they wanted to. The people at Limbic who worked on the addon content went on to do HoMM7 and we know how that went. Limbic barely survived and their relationship with Ubi ended in 2016 so those guys can't legally touch the game code even if they wanted to. And finally Ubisoft are not going to retrain some new person to fix bugs in a decade old money pit game either.

However like you I continue to hold out hope for a fan patch for HoMM6. HoMM5.5 and the new HoMM7.5 show that fans can do great things and fix unresolved issues. Only problem is all the online validation garbage in HoMM6 probably makes it a bigger challenge to mod the game.

I'd recommend heaving over to Celestial heavens, heroes community and some of the russian and polish homm forum sites and campaign there for fans to save the day. I'll even comment in your threads supporting you haha.

Surely they could have found ways to get it working (ie if there's some fancy graphical technique being deployed that wasn't in vanilla then just disable it when intel graphics are in use). Most laptops out there use inbuilt intel graphics so all those people were stuffed by this issue. I really feel like it could have been sorted out in a patch but yeah... here we are all these years later hey lol.

Anyway as for me yes after 8 years of retro gaming I'm finally getting a graphics card in the next week or so allowing me to play more modern stuff haha. It will be interesting to see if the super dark map bug I suffer in addon content will go away and finally make this game playable for me again. And then I get to worry about all the other bugs you guys are posting about instead hahaha.

I read some things around this even up to 10 years old. That's why I decided to resurrect this topic so that repairs would come at all costs. I play all Heroes and I love them. I will play them in 10 years, I will play them in 20 years. I don't want these mistakes to be here.

Please write to them again who, for example, you understand this better and speak English better than I do. I am very grateful to you, as well as all Heroes lovers, not only from the community. ♥ :)

hello, playing this in 2023 and can confirm the dynasty affinity glitch still works, on irina im wearing that water affinity staff in the dynasty weapons slot and the circle of winter only does 700 dmg !! with 56 magic power, i guess when using a magic hero you either dont use a dynasty weapon or just play offline alltogether, removing everytime the dynasty weapon before saving can get really annoying.

some other bugs i encountered from this list that i noticed:

- azkaal fight, his ability to do more fire damage doesnt work, frenzy works like you said in the list, so yeah the fight is really hard , impossible? well idk about that but tbh it took me alot of tries atleast 15 to win that fight on hard difficulty.

- about anathema i didnt know it gives more damage to enemies, tho i went with blood path on anton and finished his campaign on hard, didnt use anathema that much anyway, but if its true then basically just go tear with anton.

now about optimization,its really bad, i have a more than enough of a laptop that should run this game with atleast 100 fps anywhere but it doesnt, while in exploration in the map it can got low as 40 fps!! in inferno campaign mision 3 on that island at that start where there are some orc forts, it went down to 35 fps!!! in fights i have between 80-140 but in castle fights against another hero can go between 40-55 fps, like what? my laptop has a 3060 rtx with ryzen 5600h, windows 11

Just wanted to say the darkness issue in the expansion & DLC content has FINALLY after all these years been FIXED for me thanks to DXVK.. More details in this thread here:

Just typical that the game is finally fixed for me right before the servers go offline haha.. hell I can't even connect to the servers now it would seem (keep getting errors) but oh well... I'm so happy this bloody stupid idiotic lazy ass unfinished game issue is finally solved by clever fans.
