Game is not launching after installation: Ubisoft game launcher error code 2. How to fix it?

Generally speaking, problems with launching an Ubisoft game on Steam can be fixed by removing the launcher (use Windows Add/Remove Programs) and then installing the most current version of it obtained directly from the Ubisoft site. If you've already done that and have this error I'm afraid I have no clue what to do about it aside of the usual, file a support ticket, etc.

In my own case, getting the current launcher from Ubisoft is something I do before even attempting to play one of their games on Steam. So, I hope that helps you out.

...so why exactly do I have to fiddle with some third-party game components to play a game that I've purchased through Steam?

Game is unplayable. Get a refund ASAP if you purchased this.

I just fixed it for myself. Go to the game folder, find 3 executables there (.exe), rmb on them, go to properties, compatibility tab, set all of them as Windows 7 (dropdown) with administrator rights (checkbox) and disable fullscreen optimalizations (checkbox).

After that I still had black screen but heard intro (fanfares) but then it crashed to desktop. So I also went back to those executables, created a shortcut of Might & Magic Heroes VI.exe, and in its proerties /target field/ I 've added -w (force to open in windowed mode). Ofc, start the game by using this shortcut.

This finally worked and the game opened. Sure, probably half of those weren't needed.. but I have no time to pinpoint which one settings will work.

I appreciate your effort trying to help. I managed to launch the game.

Played it for around 20 minutes. Within that time, game terminated while on the map or in combat, because "conflux connection lost", and I had to load from autosave.

THREE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIMES OVER 20 minutes.

This is literally first time I ever have a connectivity issue since the internet has been invented.

Game is uninstalled. It's a piece of garbage. As most Ubisoft games, it seems to be.

ubisoft is a piece of ****; you pay for the service to be able to play - yet they make a mostly single player to require internet connection and to be lauchned from their own client - and fail to make it work..

guys what if i want to play Driver san francisco and it doesn't exsist on ubisoft anymore and i cant download its newest version there, i still dont understand what i need to do to fix it, omg i want to play it so hard but this shi ubisoft
