I have yet to get a 'Heroes' game that worked correctly out of the box, thats why i put the '1-6', but yet i still buy the new one like an idiot.. I've learned my lesson, and will never buy again. I continue to get no valid responce from Ubi, and I've tried most of the fixes mentioned, still freezing at random points, not just in city/hero screens, freezes in middle of battles, etc.. So im done with the game.
As it is, though, this is not a NEW game and there doesn't seem to be a question of "Does everyone get the error?" so much as "How often does everyone get the error?".
This is one of two games out of nearly 300 that I wish I could get a refund on - and I bought it in the xmas sale! So it's not like I'm one of the poor souls who bought it more than a year ago and have been waiting for a fix all this time.
Ubisoft are the new EA; they're more than happy to let unfinished product go to market because they deal in franchises they know will sell on name alone.
The good news is, I didn't get the town freezing bug.
The bad news is, I got the black screen bug - which I've never had before.
I'll certainly be watching the forums carefully before even looking at their new HOMM title when it hits steam next month.
Looks like my previous progress was a coincidence.
So you do not need to lower the res, or put it in window mode. Just delete the file and let the system create a new one.
