Play game without uPlay
I myself play the game in online mode just fine (over 80 hours to it), but if you are the one who can't for some reasons you can play it offline mode.

After registering the game online, you don't even have to login to uPlay, just put "-offline" parameter to "set launch options..."

1. Create account at uPlay or login to existing uPlay accont.

2. Register the main game (Heroes® VI, Heroes® VI Complete Edition or Heroes® VI Shades of Darkness).

Important! Do not register other DLC at uPlay if you buy Heroes® VI Gold.

3. Additionaly you can unlock extra contenent at in game menu, like Danse Macabre Adventure Pack DLC or Pirates of the Savage Sea Adventure Pack DLC.

You can also unlock Heroes® VI Shades of Darkness or Heroes® VI Complete Edition over there, if you have registed previously just Heroes VI at uPlay.

4. Right click at Heroes VI

5. select properties

6. in the General tab is "set launch options..."

7. put line "-offline" to it.

8. play game without uPlay.

Notice! Some of the features will be disabled:
Dynasty weapons and traits, profile experience points (you can unlock more heroes, dynasty weapons and traits) and of course multiplayer.

Also you can't continue game in online mode and won't receive any game updates/patches.

Don't think so, you have to have local savegame option, like Heroes has in My Documents/Might & Magic Heroes VI. But you can try it to find out. I myself like uPlay and bonus it gives.

before you go offline though - do remember to get all the updates. this may mean running the updater and then when that finishes running again and so on until no more can be found.

I'venoticed with some games on Uplay - due to how they update - they update in stages, like 1-1.01 then 1.0.1-1.7 ect.... so multiple updates may be required :)

I remembered an old black screen crash at start issue - it was to do with the video.

You could try this - taken from a much earlier post:

PanicATK

C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\Might & Magic Heroes VI\<user name>\
open ProfileData with texteditor

find "<SkipOpening>false</SkipOpening>" and change to true

This does not work unless you have already set up an account on UPlay and registered he game online. Otherwise, the game will launch with only demo-level functionality. If for some reason you cannot or will not register with UPlay, -offline is just a way to give people the runaround.

True, thats why the OP put

After register the game online

:) - you must sign up for uplay and log in the first time. if after that you don't want to be online then you can use the above.

Yes that's right you have to set up everything (registering game at uPlay and in game menu if you have additional DLC's) and then you can play without uPlay.

Also edited my post to make it more clear.

WTF?! Dec 31, 2013 @ 8:39am
I've managed to start the game without UPlay account creation and their TOS accepting by adding the "-offline" game launch parameter.

Game really can start without internet BUT NOTHING WORKS!

Neither hot-seat game can be started, nor campaign can be started.

IT'S COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE!

I DEMAND MY MONEY BACK!

P.S.
you can see strange stuff called

@MagicDN - how do you activate a game on the uplay website? its my understanding that you have to open up uplay and then click on 'redeem code' - i can't see anywhere online where you input the code - but i've probably overlooked it as they change things all the time :P

Thanks for the tip! :D

@Ari: You need to go online in Uplay and play the game online at least once. The game will make an update of somesort. Then you can keep Uplay and the game settings offline.

WARNING: If you play the game offline then you CAN NOT use the save when you log in online. The opposite is also true. If you have been playing it online and for some reason you can only play offline then you have to start from the beginning.

Also, this post is misleading. You CAN NOT play the game without Uplay. You have to install Uplay and it will turn on whenever you start the game. There will always be a background process running Uplay when you play the game. In fact you need BOTH Steam and Uplay running to launch the game.

This post needs to be renamed as "Playing offline with Uplay"
