How to recruit soldiers from town into party?

Hi I can't figure out how to get soldiers I recruited in town to my party help please

You have to move your hero when inside the city to the line where are the soldiers and the soldiers of same classes with combine in your group. You can also move or divide each soldier class to you hero with the mouse. At the left side of each soldier group is an icon that allow to divide one group in two group so you have more group of soldiers in your party.

Actually unit dividing function is usefull almost only in cases when you need to split forces across several heroes. Aside from that, dividing stacks of the unit in army is pretty much pointless.
