For the tutorial map #2, though, the biggest hint I can give you is on turn 1 (or maybe it is turn 2), go to your first city and upgrade the foot soldier recruiting place (click on the up arrow in the build screen) so you can get Praetorians. This changes the map from tough for a newbie to much easier. I wish there were a quest or pop-up to let you know you should do this action...but that made all the difference to me!
So you can´t afford to lose as many units as in previous game.
even on easy level the AI is simply artificial stacked against you.
So good thing AI isn´t as smart as previous one, but still annoying as heck to play.
I wish for once they could make a game without all those cheating spawning crap.
Check some play trough where somebody was playing normally and reduce the AI to 1 unit.
Next turn his hero has again some massive amount of units.
1.Never take the gold from treasure chests take the experience.
2.If an enemy flees let them.
3.Check to see if the helm you recieved in the underground portion of the first missionis part of the same set as the war horn,if not this is a bug and you should restart the map to spawn it.This is important as that set increases the troops available every week.
4.There are only 2 skills and 2 skill points available during the first mission, don't spend all just get the defensive one as the movement one is generally useless.
5.Before you start the second mission go to your dynasty tree and spend some dynasty coins I recommend the heroic trait that increases creature production as the defaut tarot deck and bonus resources are not helpful except at the start.
6. Always have your dynasty weapon equipped.
7.I recommend you get the negotiation skill that increases the chance of recruiting mobs and decrease their cost, also get the skill that allows you to choose where your troops are placed.the reinforcement skill is also nice.
8.Sisters are not useless as they stun enemies and kill undead easily, the AI tends to focus on them as well so use them as a distraction well buffed with defense spells.
I have had to start 2 new games because i could not get over the AI power of certain bosses after week x so i had to painfully predict each move to time me getting there when the boss was yellow or lower.
As a MIGHT hero you must choose blood in the end games maps the returns on esp first strike and counters is insane you can litterally atk 3 times with some melee stacks b4 the enemy gets a go at yours greatly reducing the losses you take, esp handly in fights were lotsa summons type mobs with high move rates, { IE i had some fights that didnt last turn 2 because when they try to atk after my atks my units get to atk first that includes any bonuses they get }.
