WARNING : GAME REQUIRES INSTALLATION OF UPLAY
I really wish I had been advised of this before sinking my money in to it.

You will have to create a new account for Ubisoft's vastly inferior superfluous overlay and keep it active alongside Steam in order to play this game.

That is the last time I spend money on a Ubisoft game. They're now on my "piracy only" list with EA.

Ubisoft has obviously forgotten why people play games. I have never seen anything suck the fun out of playing a game faster then this Uplay crap.

FU Ubisoft.

Just a heads up they do warn you on store page.

Unfortunately, given the track record of gaming companies like EA and Ubisoft it would have been wise to actually read the store page before purchase. Sorry for your ignorance, they have had Uplay since before Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands which was a game I couldnt play because of it. I got it working with a crack and beat it; this game doesnt seem to have problems connecting or anything so for the price of a take out meal you have a pretty decent Heroes game. Pirating games you will want to play anyway seems pretty lame, god forbid you ever create anything and get it stolen from you. Why are you complaining anyway, for less than 10$ you get a HUGE game which will give you a lot of hours of enjoyment and they removed the "always online" drm many years ago so its only an activation problem.

If you are having problems, just go in to the apps folder to where your game is stored, and run the game as administrator from there (you may have to set it in the properties for the game launcher), once you login (and set to remember you) it will work just fine.

Just to clarify my position.

I do not have a problem with Ubisoft hawking their wares in "their games", or monitoring my game play in "their games" Its their game and my choice.

I do however have a big problem when it is implemented in a haphazard broken toaster kind of way that causes me and I am sure many others to do web searches and spend an hour just to "F"ing sign up for it

one more time

FU Ubisoft

Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Ubisoft Online Service Platform

Right on the store page.

Run game and uplay client as admin, reinstall Visual if you get an error, and make sure neither are being blocked by anti-virus software. If you have dial-up or a crappy connection, fix it because there is only a 1 time activation check. Ubisoft stopped requiring 100% online drm years ago except for The Crew for obvious reasons.

Well good thing bought it on sales.. cause I would sure be pissed if this was full price. to install another piece of spyware crap!

And people wonder why people pirate stuff !
Steam should fix this issue, soon I end up with tons more crappy spyware junk on my pc.
Just to play a game? might as well get pirate stuff with virusses!

Thank! you!

Running the game as admin gets rid of a lot of the random can't-connect-to-conflux/can't-sync-save-games/can't-run-the-game-you-bloody-well-paid for issues I've had with Heroes VI.

"Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Ubisoft Online Service Platform"

It says that on the store page, OP should read more carefully next time.

Kind of funny to call it spyware crap, when it works more or less like steam(which is a DRM platform too).

Aside from that 1 time where I had to reinstall Uplay because it failed to launch, I have had no issues.
Not saying it is perfect(far from it), but neither is Steam(problems with the cloud, losing connection etc. All issues that happens fairly regularly).
Maybe I just see these issues with steam more often, because I spend more time on it.

The uPlay stuff crashes everytime in the process of logging in, blocking the game from starting. What to do?

Find the folder in the directory, delete it, then redownload it on their website. I have seen several guides here on steam on how to do it in detail. Use the search.

Yeah, the installer that is provided in the game is broken. Download UPlay from their site, have it running and THEN install the game. That is how it worked for me. I have not had a problem since install.
