Uplay Activation code

I've recently purchased the settlers 7 and had problems running it.
After looking around about Uplay i've uninstalled it and installed it again and it demands an activation code now.
I've never recieved an activation code with my purchase.. what code are they talking about?

Secondary click the game (icon) in steam, and look for the CD code there. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesnt.

Right click on Settlers 7 in your library and select "show product key".
This is the key with which youll be able to activate the game in Uplay...

Sorry for ressurecting this post, but I'v recently bought the game (history edition) and I have kind of the same problem. I launch in steam, then Uplay opens, tells me It's going to import the game, then it says it can't find the permission for the game (something like this). And I don't have any activation code that I could get on steam to use on Uplay
