Hey, idk if you are still out there after 4 years but I have this issue. The problem I am having is when solving is that there is no options.ini file on my computer, what should I do now?

Hey there Jouke, thanks for your post!

That's very unusual to hear that the options.ini file is missing from its usual home of %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Settlers7\ !

Please try running the game with administrator rights, as this will make sure it has the access required to generate that file. Please also verify the game files, to make sure nothing has gone amiss with the install. You'll find how to do both of these steps on our troubleshooting guide[www.ubisoft.com].

Please let me know if that solves the issue at all - if not, I'll have some other steps to try :steamhappy:

Sorry for the late jump in. I can't agree it is unusual the options file is missing. I'm having a rather unusual 7-monitor-rig running on three VGA. While most games just fullscreen on the main monitor, S7 creates little white boxes on the top left corner of every monitor, one after the other, before finally refusing to start for some DX issue. I read lots of options.ini-threads, but there was no such file in my appdata-folder aswell.

This is the first post where I found a "template" for that file so I created it manually. On first try using this file, the game immediately informed me that there was a problem with the last start and asks me to reset my options file. I agreed, what left me with no options.ini again. It simply got deleted, leaving me with the white boxes and DX issue again.

I don't see how to start the game in admin mode from either Steam or Ubisoft Connect and there should be no need. Especially not when the file actually can be deleted by the game, it should have all the privileges necessary to create a new file.

For completeness: I managed to solve my issues by copy/pasting the contents of options.ini to the actual location referenced by this thread, chaging "FullScreen = 1" to "FullScreen = 0", *not* giving the file a read-only flag and running the game. It's windowed right now, but at least it's running. :-)
