HOW TO GET SETTLERS 7 TO RUN 2020

Hey everyone I last played this in 2013, got on my old steam account and found this darling gem of a game. Installed it and was quite dismayed that the small ubisoft window kept failing to connect.

My first stop was cut off WiFi and then the launcher gave me the error that it wouldn't connect; still unplayable.

I tried to google answers for 5-10min and saw that most people had this issue but also learned of an updated Ubisoft launcher and that it doesn't come with the steam version of this game.

I tried to go into Manage>Browse Files>found the ubisoft thing and ran that update that says it isn't compatible with steam.

restarted computer, still didn't work.

Now here's the part that did work, I installed the new Uplay, logged into my account. Clicked on settlers 7 and it gave me some weird unavailable in your region error. I then opened steam and launched it through steam with the uplay app still running and bingo.

I hope this helps some of you enjoy the game :)

So what is it? I have to run Uplay in the background while I run the steam game?

Answered my own question - yes you just need to be logged in to the stupid Uplay app in the background, then this game runs fine from Steam. Ugh :-(

This doesn't always work. I tried the exact same thing and needed an extra step. I had to go into the local files on my system and re-run the UbisoftGameLauncherInstaller.exe file which asked me to accept the terms, didn't install anything then exited, and I had to set Settlers7R.exe to Admin to get steam to actually launch the game properly.

You don't get it to work. I have purchased it from Uplay directly too. All crap - does not work and they refused to sell us the 2016 version and now they refuse to sell us the 2020 version. Move on - rest in peace. Settlers is dead.

After spending a lot of time talking to ubisoft support and followed their "workarounds" -- disable ipv6, run system check, etc. (didn't work at all) and discovering the gold edition store page no longer exist on steam I was kinda sad. Hope it keeps working.....

Thanks for this! I had struggled with this and given up years ago. But now I cant change the resolution. There's always something wrong with this game.

I barely found this discussion, after Steam Support refused to refund this unplayable game I payed for just 2 years ago and can not play!! Luckily, your solution worked for me, but still can not change the ugly 1280x800 resolution to 4K or anything else! Anyone fixed this?
