Can't jump out of vent? [Minor Spoilers]

So, I'm in act 3, after everyone gets stuck in the mineshaft. I get past the little pond and have to climb out of the mine by platforming up the vent. Easy, sure, until I realized I couldn't get up to the third platform, and can't run at all. The videos I've seen show that I'm supposed to run, but I'm not sure what the hell is going on?

Anyone have any idea on how to resolve this? I'm having the exact same issue and reloading doesn't help.

I could never get my character to speed up, but I was able to make the climb if I held down the jump button down for the entirety of the jump, rather than just tapping it. Hope this helps.
