Dialogue sounds
So I was watching a friend of mine play NitW and while I liked almost everything I saw, there was one little thing bugging me: The dialogues being silent.
No, I don't want them voiced, that would be weird I suppose. But what I would like to see, or rather hear, are sounds that resemble speech.
You know, like those JRPGs sometimes do it. Golden Sun comes to mind. Varying in pitch and speed and stuff, depending on who's speaking.
Anybody know what I mean? I feel like it would be a perfect fit for this game and would bring a little more life into it.

I do see what you mean yet I'm still confused because as far as I remebered that WAS in the game. Di you play with the animated text option turned on?

you mean like, animal crossing-esque?
you should check out the nitw supplemental game lost constellation. they did a thing there where the text sound effect was a bit different for each major character.

Yeah, just like that.
But isn't it kinda weird, that they included this in a prequel, but left it out in the main game?
Seriously, I might be very nitpicky here, but I wouldn't want to play the game without it, because the dialogue really seemed a bit lifeless to me.

I don't actually own the game myself, so I don't know about the animated text option, but I can assure you there were no such sounds. I even checked recent gameplay videos on YouTube.

They tried many different types of voice acting styles during development but ultimately decided that it was better to not have any and that way players could imagine the voices for the characters themselves in a freer context. Personally, yeah I would have liked it to be Lost Constellation-esque, but I honestly didn't feel like it was bad without it either. The dialogue never felt lifeless to me, because shortly into playing you do just kind of get a sense of each character's voice from the way they speak and who they are and your mind kind of just fills it in yourself.

Just make up your own voices. For Mae, I used my own voice, for Gregg I used my own voice just a little more high pitch, for Bea I used a silent emo-ish voice and for Angus I just did a deep voice and while I talked I breathed out since he has ashtma.
