Did anyone think Mae was a boy?

Did anyone think Mae was a boy at the start?? She doesn't look really feminine at all and at times I felt like she acted more like a guy at times. But hey I've only played up to part 3 right now and all Ik is that Mae's got some issues and stuff

The artstyle seems to make gender as ambiguous as possible. While I knew Mae was female, there were several other characters throughout the game that I had no idea they were male or female until they were referenced later. You're definitely not alone in this

Also it's a game dude. A 2d game that just looks like an animal. How am I supposed to just dictate that it's a female when it's looks more like a male

I didn't, because if you read the store page it straight up states the main character is female, but some of the other characters I had confused.
It's not like you can immediately tell an animal's gender in real life most of the time, anyway. What are they gonna do, stick pink bow ties on all the girl characters?

Yes... and make dresses for every 20 and younger female characters with longer eyelashes. It's what I see in every other game kappa
