[Spoilers] About Aunt Molly...
Was she part of the cult? Her absence from the epilogue is kind of conspicuous.

No. She knows about them though and covers for their activities. Preventing people from learning the truth and thus putting themselves in danger. This is how she protects people since she can't eliminate the cult itself.

^That theory seems a bit faulty though because if the cops can't eliminate the cult, who could? Yes smalltown cops are a bit dull and ineffectual, but I'm sure if an officer uncovered a murderous satantic cult they would call the sheriff, who would in turn send in the national guard.

this is possum springs, a town no one cares about

no way the feds would waste resources on their town on a crazy unprovable claim like a cult is murdering people there

There's definitely something fishy going on with her. She seems pretty serious about her job, but they way she just dismisses Mea when she tells here there was a kidnapping is something no cop would do. Plus she's always warining Mea there's weird stuff going on like she wants to protect her even though she doesn't pursue Mea's claim.

Yeah, thats REALLY fishy. Dismissing a ghost is one thing, but dismissing a kidnapping... She doesnt even look where Mae is pointing.
Plus, why dont we see the entire part as theyre coming back home? Odd, isnt it? Normally we get a cutscene in a car or whatnot. Or at least the part where Mae goes back to bed.

Molly does mention the day after if you go back there the next day, she mentions that they sweeped the whole place from the fence to the mines and found nothing, they likely didnt look inside the mines though.

She did? Kinda forgot that. I have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ memory.
BUT DID SHE? Or did she only say that to stop Mae from looking around?

I have a strong feeling she did, since they DID find some stuff, just not cult related(I forget what it was though but one involved teens i think)

While it's possible, lies sometimes lack details like what they did find instead, though we dont know who the cultists were exactly, the only one we have a clue about would probably be Eide/the Head Cultist/the Ghost...

Well, I would dismiss what Mae said easily if i were Aunt Molly, a ghost kidnapping a kid and easily get through a high fence while carrying a person during Halloween night and said cops always dies in ghost movies. Not to mention Mae is a very naive kid for Aunt Molly.
