Can't keep hand still while stealing?
I'm using an Xbox 360 controller (very useful) but every time the game has presented me with a segement where I need to steal something, my hand won't stay "still" so I can avoid getting noticed. It just sort of constantly shakes a little in random directions constantly, like I'm pumped up on adrenaline. Is there just a button or something I'm not hitting or what? Any help would be appreciated.

I think it's supposed to shake, it mainly means "Dont touch those buttons"

Even if I don't touch a single thing, my hand shakes and when someone looks over, they notice the "movement" and I have to start over.

That's not normal. "Stay still" just means you have to let go of the controls and sit there holding the grab button down. The shaking shouldn't affect anything.

So you are just supposed to hold "grab" while not moving? I...didn't know that. Probably why I kept failing then. Thanks.

just keep the hold button down once you grab it, watch the guys eyes, when the pupil moves in the center of the eye, let go of the analogue stick

Whether I hold the grab button or not, my hand is shaking all the time and I always get noticed.

And that's BEFORE I actually manage to grab the thing I'm supposed to steal. I've never managed that and I'm pretty sure at that point it gets even harder.

Mae's hand will tremble the whole time, but the only thing that should tip off the clerk is using the analog stick/movement when they look at you. If you let go of the analog stick/movement key /before/ the eye is pointed at you, even tho her hand is trembling, you should be fine. The trembling doesn't count as "moving" and you shouldnt make any effort to try and make her tremble less.

When you grab the item, you have to let go of the button when the clerk sees you. Afterwards, you can pick it up again.
Basically, you're not suppose to have you fingers on ANYTHING until the coast is clear.

No, its just movement, and the game wasn't made with a controller in mind, a lot of games have troubles with that kind of stuff, most of it comes with the analog stick as movement because typically they are not balanced and will input small movements that most games wont recognize as walking, but i guess stealing is really sensitive in regards with movement

i'm using a xbox controller and found out that what works here is to totally drop all the bottoms. i stop holding all of them, analogic and grab-buttom, and it worked perfectly fine. the stealing act has its own shakeness to give emotion to the moment, i guess, haha
