Decommissioning of online services (September 2022)

Silent Hunter 5:
You will be unable to link Ubisoft accounts in-game or use online features.
Additionally, the installation and access to DLC will be unavailable.

What does this mean, Ubisoft?

1) What will happen to my Steam game if it never was installed or linked to Ubisoft?

2) What will happen to my Steam DLCs if they never were installed or linked to Ubisoft?

3) Will it be possible for my Steam game/dlcs to be linked, downloaded, and played after 1 Sep 2022?

4) Do I have to link and download everything before 1 Sep 2022?

So I contacted Ubisoft support through the Ubisoft connect app and asked if I the story dlc of both Brotherhood and AC 3 will be inaccessible after the shutdown.
First they gave me a evasive response just linking to an article that mentions only unlockable content (like skins and maps).

I insisted and asked again about story dlc and this was their response

Unfortunately, all the DLCs for Assassin's Creed games with discontinued online services will be unavailable once the online services are shut down.

They will not be able to be purchased and even if you own them, they will not be accessible.

Only the standard game will be available. I apologize if this is causing any inconvenience.

So yeah it sucks.

Since this game requires the stupid ubisoft connect program in order to run, will it become unplayable after this? What about if it has already been connected to an ubisoft account, but needs to be reinstalled, or installed on a new computer?

You own the base game and therefore have a UBI account. Just like steam. You uninstall and reinstall.
Btw, I don’t know why this generation get all flustered about “it needs the stupid Ubisoft platform”. They all need a 3rd party platform/agreement and licenses. Because steam don’t own anything, they sell games like shop window. So buy ‘mass effect’ you need origin. Etc.
Buy Far Cry# it’s UBI, buy assassins creed it’s UBI, unless you have a tiny library and haven’t been gaming long, you’ll need UBI,origin,Epic and Steam and maybe a few others. But you *don't* need steam to play them, just for online or workshop or forums. They are directly connected to their own platforms.

Assassin's Creed 1 on Steam doesn't need Ubisoft Launcher.

Far Cry 1 on Steam doesn't need Ubisoft Launcher.

Mass Effect 1 on Steam doesn't need Origin Launcher.

Did you agree to the license or did you choose not to read that bit in my post?

Whether it has a launcher or not, you’ve agreed to EA/Origins license agreement - which can be revoked whenever they like.

Have a look at this statement just released from UBI

https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/help/gameplay/article/decommissioning-of-online-services-september-2022/000102396

Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA
Mass Effect EULA 1
EA Play subscription requires acceptance of
EA Play Terms

Did you choose to ignore Assassin's Creed 1 and Far Cry 1?
Mass Effect 1 still needs no Origin launcher.
Green Bastard Jul 5, 2022 @ 12:21pm
The requirement for the launcher is going to be a problem if it prevents the game from launching after the decommission. Or if the game needs a file from the launcher upon installation in order to work. This game all but requires mods to operate to its full potential, and most mods and their updates require a clean install of the game.

Notice: At the request of the publisher, Silent Hunter 5®: Battle of the Atlantic is no longer available for sale on Steam.

Notice: Please note this title will not be accessible following September 1st, 2022

https://store.steampowered.com/app/48110

They now delisted the whole game from the Steam store (one day after Steam Sale)
+
The WHOLE game won't be accessible, not just DLCs as they said here:

That's real greasy.

The only language sleazy companies like this understand is money. I suggest speaking their language by not buying anything they are associated with.

The percentage of this company's worth that is tied up in keeping this game operational must be so miniscule as to be nearly 0%.

The disdain this company has for its customers to pull a stunt like this is breathtaking. What's really greasy though is that they are still selling it in the ubisoft store.

Couldn't have said it better.

It's over bros
Why over? I play it occasionally. Though I admit I very much prefer a heavily modded SH3 over this broken graphics demo.

The store page says the game will be inaccessible after sept 1
