Done.
Clutter. Irrelevant results.

Are you a member at Subsim.com? If not and you play SH games you need to be. Dozens of tutorials and plenty of helpful players too.

Yes, I have joined subsim. The questions I've asked haven't gotten answered. Some of the questions I have have been asked by others several years ago and they haven't gotten an answer.

I've seen the how to thread and have used the text search feature to try and find what I'm looking for on subsim. What I'm looking for doesn't seem to be there. I'm not (yet) saying it isn't there. I may not have found it. There's 23 years of stuff on there.

It's one frustration that this game was unfortunately Ubisoft-ed. The vanilla game was released broken and doesn't work well. It's another frustration that the game it self is pretty in depth and complicated. And yet another frustration that it's really difficult to find relevant tutorials that don't unfortunately skip or forget to mention something or have some other issue like different mods or the narration can't be heard or their in some other language or they aren't a good tutorial to learn from.

The two main things I'm trying to figure out are:

1. How to do manual targeting. Yes I've found videos and found links to tutorials both text and video but I shared above why I haven't been able to make use of them.

2. How do I increase the map tool text and lines the tools draw? It's obviously possible to do because I've seen it be much more legible in some videos I've seen. This is one of the main things I'd like to resolve that has been asked (similar but not exact same question) on subsim that hasn't gotten an answer that gets a result.

I'm not going through the pain in the butt of changing my desktop settings (resolution, scaling, DPI settings) before and after every time I play. That's ridiculous. Especially since it can obviously be modified somehow in the game so we don't have to do that as proven in videos I've seen.

Example of how I would like the lines and tool text to display (again):

Example of why I want to change it, too small to read:

Well the second screenshot you posted is a different game, that’s SH3, so I’m not sure that’s a relevant comparison. Also, nobody should be changing desktop settings every time before they play.

Did you look at this thread here?
https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=211804

I’d be very surprised if the answers to your questions are not linked somewhere in that thread.

Manual targeting is covered there. My YT channel also has plenty on manual targeting (albeit my focus is on historical procedures, like not using the recognition manual etc). An example of a day approach:

The thread you linked is the exact thread my 2nd paragraph was referencing.
The answer I'm looking for isn't there in that thread. I searched that thread letter for letter, I've searched those forums using the search feature for days. Literally. It's not there.

I'm aware the other screen shot was not SH5. They're extremely similar and that image is a very good example of the size my map tool lines are. This video here claim to be SH5:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu0lwgLaYRs&feature=emb_title

10 seconds in they begin plotting a course and their course line is way easier to see even zoomed out really far. I'm running wolves of steel and my course lines are extremely thin and a light gray color instead of thick, dark black line like that. Even zoomed all the way in my course lines are extremely difficult to see. Not because I have bad eye sight, I sit 9 feet from a 90" UHDTV.
It's just not right that I have to get off my butt and all but put my nose on the screen to read the microscopic text tools like the protractor or ruler display when I draw with them. We need that info for targeting and creating intercept courses.
I'm not using a smaller monitor and sitting at a desk moving my entire setup....lol
Nope. Not for one game I got for less than $3.

I have the game's resolution set to 1280x720. I'd prefer using 1080 because things like the map options are larger than the screen in 1280x720. I can't read map tool text or see the course and lines in 1920x1080 at all. Absolutely impossible.
Need to change it.

I'll check your video out. Thanks!
