The original series is still pretty good though, especially the final 4 episodes (watch them subbed, the dub is cringy at best).
GX starts off pretty weak, picks up at about the halfway-point of season one, the start of season 2 is weak again but picks up after Yudai upgrades his deck with the Neo-Spacians and Neos. Season 3 is amazing and season 4 gets really dark.
5D's then, easily my favorite series out of all of them so far. Best known for the 'cardgames on motorcycles' meme but has so much epicness packed into its run that ZeXal and Arc-V feel a little lacking.
Don't really have much to say about ZeXal and Arc-V. ZeXal felt like a rehash of the OG series to me and Arc-V has been pretty much fanservice after the first season.
In reality, back when I still played the physical yugioh card game with my friends, we never cheered or had much suspense in the duels we had. They were mostly analyzing the strategies and potentially improving the decks we had, and that was what was fun to us at the time.
In contrast, each duel in the anime is game breaking (In the sense that they never tribute summon in the first season and the introduction of Deck Masters?!), had interesting duels (Big 5 in Tristan's body verus Joey and Yami Yugi) and sometimes was suspenseful (Last duel between Yugi and Yami Yugi).
Though I know how you dislike how they represent the God Cards in this game, the anime effect of Obelisk the Tormentor is pretty overpowering. Your argument to not let the Campaign have its anime effect is justified and I do not see why they simply don't make two versions of it. They could mark one for "everywhere use" and the other one would be exclusive to the campaign. Perhaps even differing them even further by making both of them have different card art with the respective effects: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Appearances:Obelisk_the_Tormentor#Effects
In comparison, I always liked Chikorita because of how it was depicted in the Pokemon anime during the Johto Region arc, when it took on Ash's Charizard with a huge pack of balls (Despite the Chikorita actually being female). In the Pokemon tcg and video games, its stats were trash and like, no one would run a Chikorita in their decks/parties....
They were originally released as promotional cards just for collectors, but players attempts to use the cards in Duels. In an FAQ, Konami stated that these cards could not be used in tournament play.[citation needed] After this statement, official tournaments stopped allowing these cards. According to Shonen Jump, they are Normal Monsters.[citation needed]
All three of the Egyptian God cards have received legal prints as Effect Monsters. The legal "Obelisk" and "Slifer" possess effects virtually identical to their video game effects, while the legal version of "Ra" has its effects severely weakened (it cannot be Special Summoned, does not gain ATK equal to the total ATK of the monsters Tributed for its Tribute Summon, and its Point-to-Point Transfer effect has the player pay LP until they have 100 remaining rather than 1).
The only immunity of "Obelisk" was that it cannot be targeted by card effects, whereas the two other "God" Cards can be destroyed by anything."

TL,DR: basically the original cards were effectless, and people adopted the completely bogus effects from the anime since the cards had no written effect. once this was widespread enough to be problematic to konami, they released legal versions with actual effects. these are the only legal effects these cards have ever had and that is why they are played as such.
you must realize that your perception of how they are supposed to be played is the issue, not the cards. this is comparable to many other parts of the first anime series which completely butcher and ignore the rules of both the game and the cards involved, leaving anyone who attempts to emulate those characters and their decks in a state of confusion when things dont seem to work as they did in the cartoon.
i hope this helps you come to terms with the legal state of the god cards.
Again, when you summon that card, it doesn't nessisarily start out with 7900 attack, I was lucky enough to get it in my hand on my first draw and summon it on my second turn. That's pure luck. I'd also like to ask you this question. Is Apoqiphort Tower an Egyptian God? No? Well, that's probably why it shouldn't feel like an Egyptian God card. Also, I had to give up all but a hundred life points just to summon that card. There are plenty of cards that target specifically life points. I could still lose. If you make the same rules apply to Egyptian God cards, you've really watered down their strength, considering that they're gods. And, again, I was playing by myself, against my computer, in a card game campaign based off the anime. When I'm battling Marik or am Marik, is it too much to ask that the Winged Dragon of Ra be as strong as in the anime? Again, playing by myself. The computer isn't going to get mad at me for summoning the Winged Dragon of Ra second turn. I can see how the rules apply to the actual card game or maybe multiplayer, but this is a campaign based off of the anime and when you water down the Winged Dragon of Ra, the final battle seems WAY too easy. Also, it takes all of the fun out of summoning Egyptian God cards.
I don't think that that's true though because as Kaiba, I played Obelisk the Tormentor against Yami Yugi in the Battle in the Coleseum and he destroyed it with Mystic Box or whatever and I gained control over Kariboh. I lost Obelisk and gained a Kariboh thanks to the effect of a magic card that Obelisk isn't supposed to be targeted by. Is this classic Yugi cheating or a glitch in the game?
