Is there any point to this?
Developers don't read discussions. This game has been abandoned since launch.
Yeah, it is, but the reason is actually simple. to facilitate faster procing of the "important" story moments. IE it's easier to get Slifer, if there's 3 copy's in a 40 card deck.
is it accurate? no, does it help to get the card out, well in a way since there's a higher chance to draw it.
These are the first two lines of this game's review in the Store. But you could say it's lies, I can't really relive past duels (story decks being what they are, you put it quite right when you used hearts) and also, after the GX era, c'mon those characters are from the future, not the present..
They travel in space, visit different planets, fight aliens and other principalities, using cards?
If I was to drag the story to that point, I would exclude the Duel Monsters card game from it cause it makes no sense at all.
There's no way Pegasus created all those "space cards", or, there's no way they are linked to the original ancient Egyptian Duels etc. It's like all 3 latest generations belong to different universes from the original two and among themselves.
(GX may include an alien-invasion scenario, but it's really lore-friendly the way they did it)
Any enlightening thoughts on this are so welcome.
The whole thing about Duel Monsters being Egyptian in origin is correct, BUT there's a big problem with just the monsters from the original series (even more so later on):
Not all of them can possibly be based on Shadow creatures. Cards like Blue-Eyes, Diabound, the gods, Dark Magician and so on are all based on such creatures.
But please do explain cards like Barrel Dragon (or heck any and all machines), all the Warriors from other time periods (Samurai's, medieval knights, etc...), cards based on modern vehicles, and the list goes on and on and on.
Sure, other stuff like Atlantean dragons, Orichalcos cards and Earthbound Immortals are based on legends and myths, but its pretty damn obvious that Pegasus and his company just made up a ton of these creatures to fill the gaps. Pegasus did so right away, by creating the Toon monsters.
This trend continues in future shows, making it evident that we left the Egyptian monsters way behind us. They merely make up a fraction of the original monsters.
Also if we were meant to believe that all these monsters used to exist in Egypt at one point... well just how many pyramids could you fill with all those stone tablets?
Thank you, I partially agree. Still, the plots don't really seem to click in place like puzzle pieces to me. I was just pointing out the confusing/ dishonest way they raise the subject of past and present (I added "future") in the Store review of the product.
But I see no connection between Yugi and Yusei or Yuma... and you can't really compare a Machine card (any card) of YuGiOh with one from YuMaOh, am I right? It's like your favourite show and card game gets another producer with different ideas, budget, director, agenda. My example with Pegasus and the ancient Shadow Games was a fraction of what I posted.
They are 3 or 4 individual animes, in truth, with one thing in common; trap cards.
In that case, make a copy of the story deck; but only include 1 God Card.
No one knows the full decklist of the cards that each character uses in the show. Besides the deck seems to change pretty much every episode with cards being taken in and out and used in specific duels for only 1 purpose, and then never to be used again. WIth that said even if you really wanted the original decks you would need to fill in the gaps because not all the cards have been revealed to satisfy the minimum 40 card deck requirement. That's where duplicates come in. However yes it doesn't explain why 3 slifers or time wizards are in yugi's deck but if you want any chance of even seeing the god cards for some really dumb reason then just be glad there's 3 in the deck. Otherwise you'd spend over half an hour searching for the card only to be disappointed that you would've won 10 turns ago.
Although you can easily argue that the devs got lazy and just took half of joey's deck and combined it with yami's.
Here's a lesson you should learn by now, don't mix anime rules and decks with the video game. Don't argue with it either. If you want to replicate an anime deck you can always build it yourself and use your own imagination for what the other cards might be. The developers did the best they can with the story decks and they did it because they wanted to make both sides fair seeing as how you can play reverse duels and play the opponent's deck against the protagonists.
