it is a synergy between other heroes and items that brings out the best in some of them imo.
But so far I guess I like Frostfire Seoni the most if I have to name one.
Worst, I'm just thinkin Lem as I havent tried him yet. But of the ones tried, I seem to always waste lots of cards on rogue. Even on adventure 6 with almost all upgrades and good equipment, so much she seems to need help with.
EDIT: The monk is the worst, tried Lem and he seems to be good later
She may be about average for combat checks or divine casting, but she's a pro at defeating the game's true enemy: The Blessing Deck timer.
After picking up a few Crusader perks, she has a reliable chance of examining up to three cards per turn before having to burn through blessings. The down-side is that she may miss out on collecting boons, but being able to find henchmen/villains and close locations is the core goal of the game. A couple perks later, and she adding 1d6+x to every check at the cost of discarding a card maybe 40% of the time.
She might not be the best at specific checks, but none of the other characters share in her ability to fearlessly crash through location decks like she can.
As for worst... Lem is often a fifth wheel in my teams, I want to like him but every time he does a thing I feel like another character would have done it better. The monk (forget his name) is another real dead weight, at least up until he becomes an archer ; and even then I always have to ask myself, "wouldn't the Rogue have been better at this more cheaply ?!"
I agree that Sajan feels a little weak in RoTR. A few feats in Zen Archer can set him up as a combat monster, but he's still got some drawbacks. Since blessings fuel his combat, you really think twice about using them for extra explores. Should you go for that extra explore anyway, he might not have the cards to handle a second encounter.
That, and every other character will jealously eye his pile of blessings. He's got no problem crushing a single encounter, but it's hard to squeeze a lot of utility out of him.
Interesting. I feel they is more dead weight that most of the others. Havent played them far. Will you say they actually get better that most other heroes? Or just better (like all heroes get better further along)?
I would say they have potential, just as long as you know the right role for them. What make lem strong is his ability to recharge a card to add 1D4 +3 (i think) to any check and later in the game he can use it for himself. For sajan, he can use a lot of blessings (for combat check) just by recharge it. My 1st line rise of the runelords was Amiri (carry), Sajan (mostly for blessing supply), Ezren (magic dealer), Lem (support). For lem, i put a lot of support card such as augury, cure, aid, healing staff. The key is you know the right role for them. Not all character can be a hard carry.
Worst is harder to pin down. Probably Valeros?
How is Valeros the worst? He never need any help killing stuff and got decent exploring.
Nah, my vote is for the monk. Just dont seem do become as strong as the others.
Couple with the fact that he can cycle his own deck faster than anyone to draw the cards that can recycle his graveyard back into his deck, he can't be defeated. His high hand count only makes him stronger as he can shrugg off any attack with something as basic as ring of protections along with another skill of his own that reduces all non combat damage. At the beginning of the game, reducing damage (or using armor) may not be all that common as you really want to win all your fights but as you progress through adventure 5 and up there are so many unavoidable mass damage attacks and this is where the monk shines.
Like i said, character is hard to play, it's takes alot of imagination to think of something as creative to make this character work. But it takes a while because he doesn't shine until he gets a high hand and blessing count.
To keep on topic with the subject, Paladin is the best and easiest to play, hands down.
Barbarian is rather boring and worst character for checks. Even worse than lem but lem is right behind her as i'm voting him to be the second worse character. He doesn't excel at anything and just seems to borrow too many blessings to have to win anything. It's another one of those hard characters to play but the problem is no matter what you do, he'll most likely lose unless he borrows blessings. His high hand count is what gives him the edge over the barbarian.
