The Rise of the Goblins expansion
- A full-length campaign of 5 scenarios
- 2 new Goblin characters, Ranzak the Raider and Poog the Warcaster
- A new set of Goblin Dice
- 11 Goblin alternate versions of the Iconic characters with goblin-specific powers and slightly different stats
Epic and Legendary Cards 1: 106 Epic and Legendary Treasure Cards
Gold, Runes, and Charms: 5000 Gold, 8 Runes, and 21 Charms
Pillars of Eternity Promotion Cards: 3 promotional ally cards: Eder, Pallegina and the Goblin Golem of Obsidian
Character Alts 1: 11 Alternate Equipment sets for the Iconic characters
Legendary Items: 3 Legendary rarity cards
I don't exactly know what is already offered in the main game but let's go down the list of what this obsidian bundle has to offer:
1. expansion: The dlc campaign can be bought separately and should come with everything that was listed. The goblin characters are unique and is only unlocked if you buy the dlc. Goblin dice is unique, another dlc only. Goblin alternates, again dlc only.
2. epic and legendary cards: utter crap. You want your game to be spoiled and ruined? Go ahead and install this dlc. The only other reason to want this is because you don't have time to play the actual game.
3. Gold runes charms... you can buy in game, this is just for newbies and was never an integral part of the game. Don't use them if you want to enjoy the real experience.
4. Promotion cards are unique and can only be gotten from this deal. The first 2 cards are mediocre but the Goblin golem of obsidian is pretty OP.
5. Character alts can be unlocked with gold.
6. 3x legendary cards, i forget but again if you install #2 OR find the cards yourself you can easily get these legendary cards. I don't even know why this is here anyway.
If you ask me the only reason to get the obsidian version is number 1 and 4. But you know, to each your own.
Seem fair. I still bought the bundle at $12 though I had Pathfinder Adventures from the previous one and I backed Scythe on Kickstarter but I've never played it and I guess now I would rather had taken the money for it. Have backed his games but not played them and never thought it seemed like great value because shipping is a pain. Boardgames are expensive in general and that production very much so. Anyway so I do have that game physically so either one could just play the electric version I guess or I don't really need it.
Goblins as a thing seem cool and I guess more campaign is good if it's a game one like but maybe I mostly should view it as just another copy of the game then :)
The goblin campaign is totally separate from the main campaign. It just offers more gameplay, and some cards to find, but nothing else. It's not required but if you enjoy the game it's something to think about.
A bit lame if the others throw in a bunch of gear you otherwise would encounter later already from the beginning to boost the character so it's not "hard" longer.
Guess I shouldn't ask whatever you've played that other Card hunter or whatever it was called. The one where maps is shown in from above on the side perspective but actual game-play is also with cards. And if so how you liked that.
