Is it worth playing if I don't like horror?
As the title says, curious if the game is scary as I'm really not a fan of horror but this game gets recommended a lot.

I'm not big into to horror myself, but i absolutely loved this game. I'd say go for it!

A hundred times yes! I'm the same, and I felt a little scared at first, but then I realized that this game is maybe 10% horror and 90% immersive sim and I loved it.

I would say, absolutely yes! No joke, I was exactly the same as you & got recommended by a friend. I'm now several hours into the game, myself.

In my opinion, I'd say there's a lot more suspense and surprises as you explore, rather than "horror", per se. Like 90% of it (as someone else said) is going to be more in that realm, as opposed to "horror"? I don't know if that makes any sense? (I haven't finished the story yet, but that's my experience so far...)

I'm terrible with horror & scary stuff, in general...At the beginning, I was traveling at a snail's pace & my heart was racing a bit from the enemies kind of jumping out unexpectedly at me (again, that's moreso suspenseful & sudden, but not terrifying by any means).

After an hour (or maybe 2-3, at worst), your brain sort of learns to pay attention a little better to the surroundings & you start to manage those surprises a LOT better. It honestly takes just a bit of experience to get used to it, and a lot of that suspense I felt in the beginning has become very manageable!
(Again, this is coming from someone who is terrible with horror stuff, lmao. Don' judge meh!)

Long story short, the story is absolutely phenomenal, and I'd highly recommend giving it a try! :D
Yeah, it's not horror, it's thriller. I'm kinda wimpy myself but I enjoy prey's approach a lot. It has some jumpscares here and there but not much. Word of advice - be prepared for the calibration touchscreen . Overall it takes a more intellectual approach rather than brute forcing with body horror and similar

Its not horror at all really, some horror moments like a guy getting brutally murdered by the typhon and even a jumpscare on one of the side quests but other than that its not super bad, alien isolation is what id consider horror

Yeah it's more just like your standard "shoot da aliens" type mood but your guy isn't as powerful in the beginning, not big horror

It's scary sometimes, but worth playing

First of all, the game isn't gore overall, there's barely much violence or gruesome stuff in it, I'd go as far as saying it's almost bloodless except a few bodies here or there.

After that, the game is tense, sometimes scary, you're fighting unknown enemies to save your life and, earth too. It plays more like a Sci-fi survival than a horror game, the horror is not the main point.

The main reason this game is not horror is that it gives you all the tools you need for empowerment. Unlike say, Alien Isolation, in Prey you have many ways to get out of the role of the hunted and become the hunter (though it makes you work for it).

The first lyrical song in the game you hear goes, "And now it's time to beat the mind game," and that's kinda the essence of how the game approaches "horror."

Dive yourself in this Sea of beauty scifi story. With no exitation. I ha ve discovered this gem a bit late (we are in 2024 and the game was published in 2017!). Like many other players i m not a fan of horror games (i gave up After Resident Evil 3 on PS1, many years ago dude, not couz of scary/fear sensations, but becouz i was seraching something else from gamez).
Do not exitate , buy and play It.
I consider this a very Good advice, a super advic if u like Bethesda games and Arkane games

Prey is easily the best game I ever played and it is a shame how underrated it is!
About the horror part, its not scary at all, I wouldn't describe it as horror so definitely go for it, it's a must play!

No, it's not scary. It's more along the lines of Alien in a space station. The only complaint I have about the game is there is a bit of backtracking between side quests. Other than that, it was one of my favorite PS4-era games. The opening is a 10/10 and unforgettable.

The closest this game comes to horror are your first encounters with certain tougher enemy types, but the fear of them quickly goes away as you figure out how to combat them.

It's much more an immersive sim with occasionnal scares (not many scripted) than an horror game to me, with much emphasis on solving your objectifs in the way you see fit.
