"Game is crap cuz i cant play w a controller"

Oh boohoo
No problems here. Perhaps try a programmable mouse and game board (vs keyboard). I think it's a good game, but we all have our preferences and there is nothing wrong with that.
It's this becoming the same as,

I can't play with a xbox controller?

You can play it with any controller you want, hit shift+tab from the game to get to steam overlay, then go to the controller configuration, you can remap buttons to whatever you want fix dead zones etc

I can play every Arkane game at >60 FPS and every game since Dishonored 1 with a PS5 controller, and only a lunatic would play Dark Messiah or Arx Fatalis with a controller. Seethe.

I agree how Dishonored 1 was most optimized, but this is the second best when it comes to graphical optimization, I have low end Laptop ffs and I can still enjoy this over 45 fps without external mods to sacrifice graphics, unlike Dishonored 2 which is absolute ♥♥♥♥ when it comes to that.

I have RX 6800XT / I5 10600K and I drop Dishonored 2 because optimization was absolutly garbage. I can feel your pain.

Arkhane have garbage dev team after dishonored 1

Its poorly optimised cuz its a console to pc port, which death of the outsider didnt do and is therefore far better optimised

this game has a smooth 120fps @ 1/120ms frametime. reminds me of tomb raider. 3900x 2080 - no clue how yall are getting sub 60.

however this game isnt made the best. its awesome fun being one of the few in its genre, but i had to restart i believe 5 times due to a bug in different missions. i literally got the game working now by resetting every single setting and vowing to not touch one thing in the settings. period. it works. also means the graphics look subpar, thus thats how they designed it from my pov. badly ported.

i completely disagree. i didnt like dishonored, too much sneaking and story and graphics reminded me of we happy few, i know dishonored came first, i didnt like the core gameplay mechanics, only game i can compare it to is thief. but far less stealth oriented, as you can kill people, so its closer to the weird stealth mechanic in skyrim. stealth combat is boring to me, unless its stealth against another person or a reinforcing AI, which has never been used outside of RTS, eSports and board games.

stealth is just one of the bad mechanics in prey, theres some old mechanics in prey, let me tell you. if we broke them all down the game would look bad. a game is a combination of everything in it and what it is to you is what you do/did/experienced in it. at its core, a game is the gameplay loop, what your doing most often. take a timed screenshot while playing, say every minute, review those shots and write down what you were doing. what ever is seen most often is the gameplay loop. and if you don't like that part of a game, then that game aint foryou.

the game fills a rare niche that no other game has for a while. its still not as good as system shock 2 / deus ex 1 were when they dropped. arkane took their own spin on the genre, which i imagine dishonored fans enjoy, but i find too hand holdy and boring. none of the mini games are fun. stealth is boring. the story is entertaining, but the story is required as this is not a sandbox game. but it is a pseudo open world game as you can go back to places you visited, but might not be able to access everything until you craft more neuromods. its not perfectly thought out game. but its the best in its genre for the past 20 years

The hacking minigame isn't terrible but I think the main problem is it's not anywhere near as challenging as the tense music that plays. You'd only fail the hack if you weren't paying any attention. And upgrading this skill doesn't make you any better at it, only allows higher levels. I would say the Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mankind Divided hacking mini games were better. The Fallout hacking mini game is not fun and I would mostly just keep spamming until I get it rather than work out which words are similar, so it becomes another mindless chore. Bioshock had that pipe dream mini game that was OK at the time.
ULTRA Oct 2, 2022 @ 5:48am
The Bioshock minigame was actually just a less challenging version of the one from System Shock 1, for that matter. I don't think I've ever actually encountered an intellectually stimulating and/or challenging hacking/unlocking minigame other than in "hacking sims." Most of the time I think it may as well just be like Deus Ex where you just spend multitools since it's pretty clear the central motive of the game is exploration and they won't be able to make interesting combat or puzzles.
Playzr 🐵 Oct 2, 2022 @ 5:52am
Multitools are just as fun, but I have to wonder why they run out after they're used. Who else is the master at the lockpicking mini game too? I've unlocked so many containers in my adventures.
Blitz4 Oct 4, 2022 @ 4:35am
theres no penalty when you fail hacking.
