Alex Yu's office and the non-standard way to get there
This is my second play through, 3 years later. The first time I jumped over to Alex's office using trees (in the arboretum), I realise this was probably not designed to be exploited in this way. But now I'm not so sure.

Is the game design to keep access to the office locked off until much later when the grav shaft code is acquired? Or free for the player to find another way (other than hacking the keypad obviously)?

I always assumed this shouldn't be hackable or exploitable.

Usually immersive sims (prey being one of them) are always for extra ways to complete an objective/enter an area through unconditional means. Alternatively you could use the glue gun and jump on the hardened globs to his office that way too especially useful for a typhon run. Another way is getting to where the December launch pod is and then using the suit to glide to his office since you are so high. There is probably around 5 or 6 different ways of getting to his office all valid and would be respected by the devs for the creativity

Yeah, you can also hack the grav shaft too so I think it's pretty intentional for there to be multiple ways to get there.

Thanks. I tend to worry with these sort of games that I'm going to break them.

Yeah. Different goals/achievements may require different strategies, so there is more than one way to do almost everything. Like if you don't have leverage, you can use explosive canisters to move objects out of the way. Or gloo gun up a shaft if you can't repair a lift. There are a few things that I only figured out one way to do it, but sometimes the easiest way is less obvious than the hard way.

I used the GLOO Gun to make a way for me to climb up the wall near the waterfall.

I've just seen a 7 minute speed run. Feeling pretty inadequate!

Definitely intentional, that tree on the left is basically inviting you :D
