How often does Prey: Mooncrash CTD?

I got really far on a run and it CTD when I entered the shuttle. I lost all progress. This is frustrating as you can't really save. I guess 'save and exit' often in case it crashes again which is a hassle. Also I encountered an area where I got stuck. I had no recycle charge to suicide. I've encountered several bugs in this DLC unlike the main Prey game.

CTD=crashed? It never crashed for me. Never read that too.

There is no need for suiciding since you can look ingame menu and let character leave the simulation. (where you can see every character there is a button for leave). Also there must be a button for start simulation over (not complete start over but just so that all characters are available again with latest progress).

There is no option to start over sim. In my case with crashing I will have to save and exit before entering a new area that needs to load. That's when the crash happened.

It is, look carefully around in the ingame inventory, (i was wrong with ingame menu but i dont know the right word or how to explain). Where you can select characters, there is a button for start over with all available characters with all latest progress or just to leave that character the simulation so you can use the next character.

Edit: i dont have Prey installed so i cant look for you right now. Please look carefully around, it is there.

Edit2: wait, how much progress did you make? How much characters did you unlocked? Probally you are in the very beginning of the simulation?

Thanks I will look for it. I'm pretty early in the game but before it crashed my character got a lot of upgrades, fabrication plans and killed plenty of enemies. I was almost at the escape. Good thing only this particular character lost progress. Hopefully this crash is rare because this DLC is great.

Well, in that case when the first character is in the sim you will see a button for leaving the sim so the other character can join it. But when the first is done and the second is in the sim you wont see that button.

There had to be another button too for restart sim when you are busy with your second character, so the first one become available again and you lost some progress.

Edit: now i remember, it is the tab STATUS. Look there for any proof from what i said.

I spent 34 hours mooncrash... zero crashes or hangs. Once in awhile I had an odd 'audio bug' where some sound effects would not play. But other than that... stable as the base game it seems.

And I'm running on very old nvidia win10 drivers (because why update, when all my games run fine? lulz)

you unlock resetting on the 3rd character. More things get added based on the orders you have to complete. (bounties are not included) Progress gets wiped after you finish all orders. I haven't finished but before I try the backup method I'll take the advice of making the last order be vollunteer story. Then creating a backup to do it, then restore before doing it.

And leave the simulation, can you confirm when OP will see that possibilty? After the third character maybe or earlier?

never earlier. It's either 3rd or 4th. I'll check and link the point in a video before they have 2 or 3 characters then to where they had 3 or 4 characters. Speedruns unlock 3 characters in run totalling to 4 so they'd skip when you physically unlock it.

actually forget. i think the only entertaining kind of smart guy grabbed riley and vjay in one go too. these ads on mobile youtube are abysmal. It's not hard to unlock resetting but im pretty sure it's 3rd character because 2 characters shows you how 2 characters work together. If they gave you it after unlocking your 2nd playable character you could just keep doing one character. in essence it's forced to teach.
