How do I make this game heat up my GPU less?
Do I need to turn on vsync? Or something else.
I'm getting around like 74 degrees celcius and it's kinda concerning.

74 C is a perfectly safe GPU temp

74 degrees is not concerning. Most modern gpu's keep fan speeds as low as possible. If you want to decrease the temperature of your gpu you can either force a lower frame-rate or set the fanspeed higher manually.

I have no idea how to force a lower frame rate, it's not in the options.

just download a fan controller - like MSI afterburner.

If you have a msi card you can download msi afterburner to manually set the fanspeed. There are some other alternatives like speedfan aswell.
For limiting fps, there is proboably someting you could change in the game files to change vsync, no idea what though.

Pour some water on it, it should cool the GPU down.

74 C is perfectly fine under load. When it gets into the 80s and 90s under load somethings amiss. It would help to know what type of card you have as well.

Depending on the manufacturer of the card you might be able to get fan control software so that you can adjust base fan speed or give it a custom speed curve based on temperature. I personally adjusted the graph so that the GPU peaks at around 70C under maximum load, but barely uses the fan at all when just browsing the web or doing other light activities.

I noticed the same issue as the OP, but for a different reason - the GPU temp is running hotter because Prey is maxing the graphics processor. Now, at the 68-70C my card runs at I'm not worried about temps either but it is interesting to note my GTX1080 CPU usage hitting a firewall 99% and staying there while the game is in action. Menus, like Inventory? Single digits.

I do use MSI Afterburner for fan control but the updated Prey also has a max framerate setting now.

(And I'm saying it's Prey but of course Nvidia just updated drivers too, so it would be interesting which graphics cards see this happening.)
