as long as no-one dies by your hand you should get the achievement. You can check your progress under STATS. As long as you have "Humans killed: 0"

Thanks. Gonna have to do it in a second playthrough because I accidentally killed the mind controlled guy in the trauma center. It was still early in the game and I thought that the nullwave transmitter would nullify the mind control but it made the guys head explode instead

Best is to use the Stun gun on the mind-controlled, renders them unconscious.

I have Mindjack now so I used that on the other mind controlled humans I've run into. I'm probably gonna play through two more times so I can get do no harm and only acquire human abilities on one run and then kill everyone while acquiring only Typhon abilities on the other

I shot the recycle booby trap the cook set up in the escape pod... and then promptly used his remains to make some shotgun ammo, a suit repair kit, a neuromod and some fertilizer. It didn't count against me as my bullet didn't hit his body.
