I do have mixed feelings about the guns available in this game. One the one hand, it's rather limited, with two utility guns, a pump action, a silenced pistol, and a death ray (one of these things is not like the other!). On the other hand... this isn't a traditional FPS in terms of comabt. You're supposed to play a little bit smarter to fight.
Compared to System Shock 2, there are fewer guns, true, but I rarely invested in more than two weapons trees, which means I never had more than 7 weapons (three from each tree, and the wrench). When you consider that some of the weapons were upgrades of previous ones (Laser Rapier, Crystal Shard and Assault Rifle) then Prey doesn't look so bad, especially since I find Prey Psi-Powers to be more useful than SS2 Psi Powers.
This is a prime ammo-saving strategy.
Reployer weapon FTW.
I like the way they all scale thanks to upgrades. The stun gun becomes a beast once fully upgraded + damage bonuses.
It will be interesting to see what the DLCs add to the game.
