Why did the humans attack me?
After saving the dude in the cargo container after Alex initiated the lockdown, I got back inside to a person named Austin Cool told me to get on the catwalk.

I did, and when the door opened all of the humans inside were hostile towards me and started to shoot me. I had to kill them all, but I have no clue why they all became hostile.

Even the person I just saved is hostile towards me. What is this?

They are "possessed" by a telepath. They are first encountered in the arboretum in a greenhouse area and a telepath has possessed a few of the staff. You can either kill the staff or kill the telepath but try to get high and kill telepath

No, not those people.

This is after Alex initiates the lockdown. You have the option to save Dr. Igwe by docking the container unit he is trapped in. After that you can use the container unit to get into the area where 10 or so of the survivors are.

This is after you get into Deep Storage. There's no telepath anywhere.

I was reading some other forums, and it seems that it might have been because one of them saw me, through the glass, using the teleport ability to leave a decay since there were a few Phantoms I was fighting. I loaded a previous save, which is a tad bit back, but I'll try to avoid using the alien abilities around them and see if that was the issue or not.

You can get attacked by human NPCs if you attack them with a weapon or use alien abilities on them

I didn't use alien abilities on them or attack them. I think, from what I read on various forums from around the game's launch, it's because the humans saw me using an ability, and, even though I was killing phantoms and mimics, thought I was "infected" or something akin to that.

I am at the place again, so I will test not using and using alien abilities near them and see if that is a trigger or not.

i didnt say you got attacked by them because you got them first, but its a factor
i never used typhon abilities at that point in any of my playthroughs as 1. you have the sentries set up which usually do most of the work or2. i had a full upgraded shotgun etc that was better than any thphon abilities

"You can get attacked by human NPCs if you attack them with a weapon or use alien abilities on them"

This ^^ is what you said mate. This means that I can get attacked by the humans if I attack them or use alien abilities ON them.

I did neither. Again, from what I've read, One of them must have seen me use an ability when attack phantoms. I am going to put a new comment here after I do some tests to see if just using an ability in sight of a human causes them to go hostile.

Again, to clarify, I never attacked them or used an ability ON them.

Alright just finished testing it.

If you use an alien ability in front of friendly human NPCs, they will become hostile for you.

Most likely because, to them, you are "infected", and considering how many audio logs there are of the residence of the stations freaking out about one another not actually "being" one another, or how the "chef" mentions how they "look like us", I can see why.

Nice touch in the game tbh.

I said "can" not "were/was" which means its a factor, and using the abilities on them counts as a factor, even if you yourself did not use the abilities on them but some random person could have

the staff were anti-neuromod which is why they attack you regardless of using it on them or not

You didn't word your thought well enough. It sounded like you were saying that they attack after you attack them, which wasn't answering what I asked. Lost in translation, or in this case, transition.

Regardless, I figured it out after doing some testing.

This is quite interesting, as i just recently went through the same part and i was able yo use kinetic blast on some phantoms during the fight and no npc turn against me.

Maybe they didn't see you then. When I was teleporting, I was pretty close to the window on the big door separating the humans in the cargo bay and the entrance from space you come through.

I did also test using an ability right in front of them. I made sure to save, and tried out teleport, mimic, and a couple of other abilities, and each time they saw me use one they freaked out.

Perhaps they didn't agro on you because they didn't see you. The AI's "view" can be really stupid at times, such as when I hid directly underneath the nightmare, and even though it's model was looking down right at me, it didn't "see" me.

You sure about that typhon abilities aggro? Because I used psychoshock on first phantom that came through that door in that fight in front of everyone and nobody cared.

Thats what i first thought. Op's hostility and the fact the game is uninstalled so i cant check meant i said it could be a factor. Since you and the other yser claim typhon abilities do not cause this i guess the answer is op was careless and hurt a human causing the attacks

Perhaps it is because there was a "quest event" in motion. I did my testing when there wasn't a scripted event going on, so that may change something?

"OP's hostility"? You didn't answer the question and said that I attacked the humans, or used the ability against them, and then you tried to argue semantics. I didn't care to debate about what you meant as opposed to what you said, so I did my own testing and figured it out. You can call "not wanting to debate on a forum" hostility if you wish, I suppose.

Regardless, I didn't test everything, but I did find out that using an ability in front of a human when exploring the station normally will cause them to become hostile. It is interesting that there might be a possibility of scripted events overriding this, so if anyone finds more things about when and when not humans will become hostile to you, feel free to share!

I didnt say you straight up attacked them. I said human will attack you if you attack them, i didnt say you attacked them (knowingly). I said they *can* attack you under these conditions
