Prey

This or DOOM?
im after a new fps to play, DOOM is my number one choice so far because of 2 reasons.

1. DOOM is a lot cheaper
2. Every bethesda game ive purchased has been riddled with bugs.

so before i go buy DOOM, is there any reason i should pay like triple its price for this instead?

thanks

prey has a very good storyline and is much more complex than doom - which is just run and gunning.
prey has a whole space station you can roam around freely and explore as you wish. :2017stickysquirt:
i would recommend to buy it on the next sale. 60 is a bit steep :UAC:

They're both great, but they're both very different games. There will be another steam sale before you know it.

Bethesda is not the developer of this game, they're handling the distribution and production. I didn't have any horrible bug related experience with any of the Arkane Studios games.

That being said, get Doom.

1-) It is cheaper.

2-) It doesn't have Denuvo so you'll have way better performance with it.

3-) It has multiplayer and they just released a 20 GB patch for it (a lot of content is coming up)

Doom is definitely not a waste of money so it makes sense to me. Besides, it is THE purest form of FPS. This game has more replayability so you'll get your money's worth definitely but don't miss out on Doom.

P.S.: Doom is kinda difficult compared to this game so be prepared :)

In 30+ hours of gameplay I had only 1 graphic bug, solved by a reboot of the game.

For me Prey is closer from Dead Space 1 than Doom.
There are lot of exploration, research and "puzzle solving" with sometimes big battles; Doom is just "run & shoot, you'll think later" (I love Doom, don't kick me - just want to say it's really not the same kind of game).

If you're looking for a pure shoot game, yeah, go for Doom.
If you love exploration and lore, go for Prey.

yeah im just after straight up shooting, got enough exploration games haha

thanks very much guys, i was swaying in favour of DOOM anyways :)
Chiming in here with my opinion: Get Doom.

Both games are fantastic, and I highly recommend getting Prey down the line (next time it's on sale maybe)?

Doom however, is just so freaking good from a pure run and gun shooter aspect, I've honestly never played an FPS that just "felt" so fun shooting things. Plus it's cheaper. It also looks incredible, and while I don't think Prey is a bad looking game by any means, Doom definitely has "show this to your friends can you believe that?" kind of graphics.

Doom is on sale this weekend, if you didn't already get it. Great price for the game imo. Still waiting for a good sale on Prey.

Both games are fantastic. But, are completely different types of games.
DOOM is your straight forward, run and gun, action over the top shooter. Gorgeous, incredibly fun... and wonderfully violent.

PREY... is a more slow paced, environmentally driven, RPG and exploration based.

Both are worth the time. DOOM is if you want a fast paced shooter, PREY is if you want something like System Shock 2.
And, as for bugs, I've played PREY from start to finish and jumped back into multiple places... and never had any issues. Both games are incredibly polished, well optimized and very stable.

It depends on what you like. If you want something more like Bioshock, get Prey. If you want something more like Doom 1993, get Doom 2016. The games are too different.

If money is a big issue, then get Doom when it's on sale for $14.99, since Prey will be on sale for much less later. It was on sale for about $40 when I got it. So far, Prey is my game of the year, so $59.99 would have been a great price for me, even. Like I said, it all depends on what ticks your enjoyment boxes in video games.

Any proof that Denuvo causes performance issues? Because all the BS I hear about it are pure lies everytime...

I bought it for $30 on release from 3rd party site. I would wait for a sale the game is really good, but no point to buy the game full price after this long after the release date it will be on sale soon enough...

I know this post is old .. but for posterity - Prey is not an FPS. If you want a modern FPS go with DOOM 2016. But honestly, if you really want a true Doom experience without gonig back in time, go with Serious Sam 3 BFE or Painkiller H&D as they are the most modern games that get the Doom feel right.
