Prey

How do I get rid of controller drift <sob>...........
I really really want to enjoy playing Prey but I have tried everything now to eliminate movement drift on the left stick of my controller and have failed. I have tried 2 x Xbox One Bluetooth controllers and a Switch Pro controller, I have set deadzone's bigger than Chernoybl, I have screemed, I have cursed, but nothing fixes my slow inevitible shuffle sideways to the right? Why does this game have so much trouble with soimething so simple, like the ability to use a controller with your game? I just dont undersand, why is it broke?

Why would you use a controller with an FPS game anyway, even the Steam controller is inferior to a mouse and keyboard. I get that the game isn't wholly a decent shooter that requires precise aiming for weakpoints or twitch motion, it doesn't even have ADS, but still..

Even though the game initially has horrible keymapping, you can remap everything that matters anyway.

Try changing the ingame sensitivty or the other modes like head bobbing and stuff. It might help, I dunno. Grab yourself a Steam controller, it probably doesn't even have deadzones I dunno lol. Otherwise..

The game lends itsself perfectly for a controller. Either way, it's a personal preference which isn't the point right now.

Do you have this drift with other games as well? I'm assuming you don't, but it's always better to ask.

No not at all, just prey, a slow drift to the right, don't have this issue with any other game

I prefer controller, that is why I want to use it

Uncheck the Xbox or PS4 controller support in the Steam controller menu. If that box is checked it will mess up your controller

Ummm, disabling controller support for xbox controller disables the xbox controller entirely from working with Prey. I just find it odd that on Day 1 when I purchased Prey it worked absolutely fine, they introduced Mooncrash DLC and it broke the controllers. Its fine I shall switch to mouse and keyboard but it just seems something that is so simple cant be fixed by Steam/developers

No it does Not disable the XBox controller ! ! I've unchecked the box in the Steam controller settings and now my XBox360 controller works perfectly in the game. NO movement drift on the left stick or right stick.
I also have the Mooncrash DLC. XBox360 controller works perfectly

After injuring my wrist I can not use a mouse. I know M&KB are better I just wish people would shut up about it because I can't use it. I NEED to use a controller.

Just started this game today. I'm having the same problem with my Xbox controller. It's the right stick that drifts for me. If I disable it in the Steam settings I get no function out of the controller. This is the only game affected. All other games are flawless with the controller.
EDIT: I'm using the Series X controller if it makes a difference

Weird isnt it? It is literally the only game in my entire collection with this issue.
The drifting issue OP has was fixed in a patch.

The drifting you guys have is something not related to the game.

Recalibrate your controller and make sure you maintain the analog sticks. My guess is they are 'sticky' and became less sensitive.

Soooo I booted up the game today and had no audio but the controller worked without any drift whatsoever. I closed the game and opened it again and everything works. Weird...

I have three Xbox one Controllers, 2 Nintendo Pro Controllers and 1 PS4 Controller, all exhibit this issue on Prey and on absolutely no other game. My analogue controllers are just fine.

Then fix your calibration settings in big picture because my xbox 1 controller works fine.

I ended up deleting all evidence of the game (including save file and the game itself in the steam file folder). Shut down the computer. Then downloaded the game again from scratch.

Adjusting the calibration didn't fix the problem for me. I even made the dead zone huge.
