Control Modules - WTF do they do?

I have found several Control Modules in the new DLC. There appear to be power relays that accept Control Modules, like these.

But I can't insert them inside. Am I missing something?

I found out that after you get the third character out, the game opens up new optional variants like Power Out, where you can restore or remove power modules from the Power Center I'm standing at above to fix the power or remove it for various purposes. Ex: The Psi characters start being regarded as Typhon if they have too many abilities, so you can remove power to certain areas to get inside.

You can also use EMP grenades to slip past the Typhon walls, but eh.

Oooh, did not know.

This game has SO many layers. I found out recently the boltcaster is an infinite-ammo cystoid nest destroyer.
