How to edit the games .lua files?
What program do i need to edit the lua script files for this game. They are encrypted and stuff and i want to add some new weapon types to the game... Along with alot of other ideas.

You can decompile they whit unluac, but the game refuse to load the edited ones. This cryengine build is heavy modified by Arkane.
I had everything placed to make the disc rifle work but the scrips are unfinished, when loading the edited ones the game don't crash but don't recognize the changes :( .
This make deeper modifications not possible atm.
But if you find a way to make them work please advise!

Do you make weapon textures?

I have some friends that can make textures. Im more of a coder and i also make animations.
This game caught my attention since i was a huge fan of system shock 2.

Cant really do anything interesting without script editing. I can try some stuff maybe to get them working but this is not good news to hear :p
Maybe someone can get a hold of the devs so we can add some new life to the game.. And maybe some new sales too.

Hopefully some dev will hear.
For now only model and particles swapping, but some of the vanilla scrips open the way for interesting stuff, I'm "making" a flamethrower (60% finished, whit an unused game weapon model and new particles effects) but the model is untextured, it will be great to have new animations for that. Are you on nexus?

I dont have a nexus account right now.. All the mods i have done have been on workshop for xcom 2.

As far as i can tell what determines the types of ammunition that is loaded into weapons is done via scripts. You might be able to pretty much overwrite an existing weapon and make it into a flamethrower but i dont think you can get it working unless im missing something?

I would only do animations and stuff if we could actually for sure get stuff working in the end :p

Yes you're right, but the arkane in-house lua that I'm using is pretty permissive too, so I have it already working with particle effects uses the unused heavy laser model (and suits very well for the type), only need more tweaking and finetuning, i left it apart cause I'm still working on an update of my graphics mod (adding tesselation and pom right now) and it needs proper textures and animations -using the pistol one as a placeholder- add me as a friend here so i can show you more if you want.
