Steam overlay appears when sprinting

if I ever press Shift+W at the same time the steam overlay would appear, is this a bug? this hasn't happened to any other games that I have..

Well do you use Shift+W in other games?
It might be that the key binding has changed, you can check this in Steam settings and in the game settings.

It only happens to me after an alt+tab, and only the first time i push shift after alt+tabbing.

I have the same issue. For some reason Shift+w brings up the Steam overlay. Then when I close the overlay, I can use Shift+w regularly to actually run.

yup, I played obduction and I consistently held shift+w just to run (until later somebody told me that Capslock makes you automatically run) so I don't really understand why.. I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time this happened but I don't really remember the other game where it occurs

that doesn't work for me, it actually opens up after re-pressing the same keys 3 times :(

Haven't clarified that it occurs only when using alt+tab so I'll have to verify at a point, however 99% of the games I play here in Steam has been alt+tabbed more than once and none of them seem to replicate the isue

ok. I tried it, normally I play with a gamepad, since laptop I find not easy to use with keyboard and mouse, so I didnt experience it before.
It does not happen with me, UNTIL I have used Alt-tab, first I atl-tab back in, and then the game is in some pause, so first I have to choose resume.
Then Shift W for running and one time it happens, other time not. But when it happens it pops up and is gone the next second.

This is a steamwide bug. When you press shift and tab, it brings up the overlay. When you alt tab, it stores the tab keypress for some reason, so the next time you hit shift, it counts that as a shift tab key combination.

I haven't found any good way around it, though once you know it's coming, you can always just get it out of the way by hitting shift in the pause menu and reminimizing it again before starting the game again.

It only happens the first time you hit shift after alt+tabbing out. Doesn't bother me too much since I've come to expect it and just hit escape twice quickly.
