I'll reiterate: this set of numbers has no basis in reality. If you've got some kind of link or proof of this 12000 number I'd love to see it.
I made a mistake and learned something from it.
Now if there are 500~600k owners, they seem to have been a little more successful than I thought they were so the question would be, that I would like answered. What would keep them from continueing from the franchise? Support and DLC.
A lot of people seem to be saying "oh noes there's no dlc already therefore it must be dead in the water" when what they ought to be saying is "wow a full game that needed only minor patching that's been put in already? terrific!"
This game is a niche market though - either way you slice it. It's not as "Active shooter" as, say, Aliens Isolation is, and it's apparently too pretty and bright to be a "real horror" game, and crucially, it makes the player THINK. And sadly that's been a problem lately... Dont' get me wrong, I love shooting things. A lot. But I much more deeply appreciate the effort that's gone into this game, because I can look below the surface and shiny, and see the plot and all the messy human story under it. Folks just... want shooters for the most part. So it's not getting the massive word of mouth push that some other games get. It's certainly under-represented in my opinion. But it - like Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider - is an extremely good game that lots of people seem to think hasn't sold well. They have, and I'm honestly baffled at why people keep saying it even though it's patently untrue.

And the reason I wanted to reply again and forgot with that wall of text:
Yeah if you're going only by the quantity of reviews here on steam? Multiply that by AT LEAST a margin of 10x to 20x because literally 9 out of 10 people dont even realize there ARE reviews or a forum. We squeaky folks do a lot of talking, but most people just say nothing, play the game, and move on.
