The ending and Saving Alex
I finished my first play thru yesterday, there were a couple things that i didnt get to see, one was not seeing Danielle Sho at the window (i completed Data Storage before Crew Quarters) and the other was not having Alex waiting for me at the bridge when i was ready to initiate the self destruct. when the opportunity to save Alex came up, i did drag his fat ass into that safe room, i searched the place, listened to the audio logs and then left for the elevator. as i left the area i got the Save Alex failed and i think its because i didnt close the door on my way out. i thought oh well, he seemed like a massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyway and just continued playing. after finished the game i watched some of the other endings and noticed that everyone seemed to have Alex alive at the bridge.

Does Alex being alive at the end make any difference? because in the hand shake scene, he still says all the same things while the operators all have their points to make in regards to their own situation, Alex doesnt seem to care either way if you saved him or not.

Yeah, you need to lock the door to save Alex.

And for the handshake scene.. not actually tried not saving him in a non kill all humans play through yet. As they just instantly deemed me a psychotic failure before i even got to the handshake scene, in that particular run :P

Far as I can remember, it doesn't change anything. I'd imagine it doesn't matter since those who save Alex will typically blow up the station from the control booth located directly above his panic room. It's like wrapping a live chicken in tinfoil before cooking it- you're still cooking it.
