Killing a Nightmare the easy way
So I ran out of bullets and discovered that the Nightmares tend to follow you through small openings and doors.
I grabbed my wrench and hid behind an open door, waited for the Nightmare to force itself through the small door, I bashed it with my wrench, then ran through the door to the other side.
Waited until it turned around and hit it again. Rinse, repeat.
I know it's boring and repetitive but I was out of ammo and psi and if it works, it's not stupid. :)

if you killed it , you win, but remember to use typhon lures too, can be a life saver when you need to seek a safe location

Really?
I'll look into that! Thanks!

I killed it by stunning it with a psi and using just my gold pistol ;)

the nightmares even on nightmare difficulty are pathetic, 2 phantom shifts and 8 shotgun shells and its gone.

quest is called phychic waters it makes every water source give you 40 psi per use it can be started and finished in the life support area. really great if you use typhon powers.

I havetohavetohaveto have that.
Thanks!

Btw I just started the game, (10ish hours in) carefully exploring, wandering, not in a hurry.
I play on hard, so it is not really a challenge, but fun nonetheless.

Nightmare one shotted me the first time I saw it.

The second time I realised I could teleport between his legs and simply stroll away. Might kill it at some point, but it's not getting in my way at the moment :steammocking:

Psycoshock, a few shotgun shells, then the rest with Q-beam. Boom done.

all those fancy weapons make it too easy, psychoshock and a wrench and some lures are all you need, but, the OP had only a wrench, read his post

My nightmares might be bugged.
I'm playing on hard and they always gets stuck near the security boot entrance in the Arboretum. Very easy to kill him from there. Just keep going up and down the stairs to dodge his "bullets".

This also happens in the Crew quarters, right outside the cinema area. Theres a maintenance crawlspace. It nevers follow you there.. so you can use bullets and powers to hit with no issue.

Will try your technique to save bullets and PSI.

I had most of the invasions after leaving the main elevator in Lobby (3 times), so I put 3 fortified turrets in my office, aimed at the door to weaken it during the chase. Then it was easy.
Unfortunately can't use turrets in my current playthrough :)
Other times I used a fully upgraded shotgun and the fully upgraded Slow Time skill, which was just as easy but it uses a bit more ammo.

I agree with Saruman. I had three encounters in the Arboretum, just ran into the tunnel with the two turrets, hid behind a corner and waited until they pecked it to death. Pretty much no challenge whatsoever in 90% of all encounters due to snagging on the furniture/architecture. And for those last 10%... Recycler charges. Four or five at once = a pile of very expensive lego blocks all over the floor :-)

Don't have a suggestion on a hiding spot, but I'm with UFO for that last 10% - recycling charges. Except I try to use them all the time on Nightmares. Killed one with just 3 once, usually takes 4 closely-spaced recyclers and BAM - it's raining Nightmare! Easiest way I found and at the same time, definitely the most fun.

Plus, it makes that big, ugly writhing dead body of his disappear. Cleaniless and godliness and all that, you know. :steamhappy:
