Because elazar tells this to you. Just pay attention what people say.

It's part of the main story. But it's really hilarious how the crew reacts if you hack the door (it's a level 4 hack) before speaking with Elazar ;-)

Chief Elazar gave a vague notion of what she expects of you but never clearly states where those turrets should be placed exactly nor how many you need.

At the end, I figured it out by trial and error.

There's a drawing on the whiteboard in the same room she's in which gives you an idea. Also, I think it's rather obvious which the strong point is.

I found out the drawing but and also understood general location where turrets should be placed. It was just the fact you need to place them in the grey concrete-like pavement right in-front of the doors. It was not anything too frustrating to figure out but the quest could have been worded better, both placement of the turrets as well as number of turrets needed.

Once you place the first turret in the area it's quite clear how many additional turrets you need and explains that's the right spot for them.

Exactly.."once you place first turret in CORRECT area". I first manufactured 5 turrets and brought them into the general area where they should be placed. I placed them around those barriers but nothing happened at first so I produced 3 more, I pretty much surrounded those doors with a turret wall and few concrete blocks. It is weird you get counter of how many turrets need to be placed only when you place first turret in correct position.

I actually had no problem finding the correct area, but there was a clearly marked out box (with orange lines) in front of the door, so I tried putting them in there just as a default response. I can agree it's a little bit annoying that is doesn't tell you what is going on until the first turret it in position.
