Sound design like this is laughable in 2017 even more so when Dishonored 1 and 2 are so much better. It also looks extremely underwhelming even though it uses cryengine. Hell, they were somehow unable to implement actual mirrors and instead have ugly ps2 era textures which look like it should be a mirror.
Can't really recommend any of those when there are way better games available.
Edit: If you can still get Prey for around 30€ it's a non brainer though.
I play both, pretty much did everything in ME:A and it was good fun, exploring the planets at your own pace and meeting the characters was great, and as someone said earlier, the story isn't bad but it feels very "part 1 of 3", I did really enjoy most story missions, the side missions tend to be weak though.
As for Prey, no complaints so far, it's a deep and fun shooter that rewards you for taking your time and exploring, it holds your hand less than most triple A games which I do apreciate. Can't say much about the story since I'm not done yet, but up until now I am having a great time with it.
So far I would say Prey is better.
If I had to score them both it would be as follows:
ME:A = 75%
Prey = 90%
Prey is GOTY front runner atm for me (I really enjoyed Torment Tides of Numenera and Battelgrounds to)
MEA is 75% scanning rocks, very little story, and not even a good story.
MEA has PTW MP that doesn't even work properly. It's an abomination. ME3 MP wasn't too bad though.
Andromeda is, for me, just more enjoyable. I'm actually on my second run through Andromeda, now playing on hard mode.
I bought Prey and it's just not holding my interest. I usually alway pick FPS-type games over RPG-Mass Effect type games (Andromeda is, again too me, way better than the previous ME games.)
But so far, I find Prey to be strangely boring, story-wise. The wierd 60s-yet-future look and asthetic is kind of annoying as well as totally impractical for space, and feels like a dumb version of the Art Deco Bio Shock Infinite universe.
Also, Prey can be way too hard at times. I love a good fight in an FPS but some of these battles just feel flat-out mean to the player. Really hard multiple beasties with little to no ammo or even a decent gun. You spend the first two hours pretty much exploring an fighting with a wrench and a gloo gun. The Gloo gun is kind of original but the wrench gets old fast. If you are still on the fence, go with Andromeda. A lot more story and play-time for the buck. Just my opinion though.
Already clocked 100+ hours in Andromeda plus the companion app that I use during my break times at work to grind for materials and research points.
Andromeda is a lot of grinding with repetitive side activities to grind materials, cash and xp, but prey and andromeda cannot be compared as the only thing they have in common is that they are both sci-fi
If you are into open world with potencial replay value I suggest Andromeda, if you want to be sealed in one big space station with some good jump scares, then go for Prey
Prey is a good game, but I would wait for a sale
Andromeda however is good too imo, the combat is great, a lot of the missions are excellently crafted, facial animations (atleast some of them) have been fixed. The only gripe that I really had with Andromeda was its bugginess, and because I played on insanity the enemies were horrible bullet sponges. I'd give both of them a try
Prey defo has less issues than ME A , there both great game though tbh. Even with the issues ME A had i had alot more good times in andromeda. Still if you have the time and money play both.
Prey. I did enjoy Andromeda, but it's a complete mess of a game. Enjoyable, but so very, very, flawed, in so many, many, bizzare ways.
Prey is a masterpeice. If you enjoyed Bioshock/Dishonoured, you will love this. Best FPS since half-life.
Btw, the issues with Prey? I haven't had a single one. Running an i5 2500k @4.2, 980GTX, 8 gig ram. Everything on max, motion blur off. Constant 60. I had one crash in well over 30 hours of gameplay, I just reloaded and everything was fine.
